Customer Reviews

Dobby's new homeI was nervous purchasing just for the size, I wasnt sure my Dobby would fit!!! But to the eye it looked as if he would just make it in here to call it his new home.I must say I am rather impressed on this show case. The glass is thick, but buyer beware, use soft gloves when assembling. I had shredded glass all throughout the inside of the box. The tiny little threads of glass loved my hands and was a pain to be sure I pulled everyone out.The only issue I really found is one of the plastic pieces that holds the glass together in the corners was smashed making it a pain to slide into place properly. I was able to get it and had the case up within 15min.Although I wish the corkboard, or whatever fake wood was real wood just for real nice support. I definitely cannot complain on the quality for a great price. I recommend highlyIt looks great.I love his new home, and hopefully he'll stop taking all our socks.... 4Arrived as advertisedThe item arrived late but everything came with no issues like damage packaging or some missing parts. Everything was there when l checked the parts in the manual and by-step instructions. The glasses weren't scratched as many previous reviews stated. I did notice the glass gets dirty quickly, so scratching may have come from the handling itself. Putting everything together was hard for me because of its a two-man operation. For instance, each glass needs to be aligned from the left, right, and back. Since they weigh almost 2 pounds each and l don't have four arms, l need to hold the left and right side with my legs while l install the back with my hands and then place the top wood part that holds them together. Sounds untoward, l know, moreover, it provides a hard plastic strip that closes some of the gaps which again, is hard if it's done by one person. I gave it five stars because, at the end of the day, the results were amazing as a display item for my gear. 5Very nice!I am a 64 year old woman with absolutely no experience putting things together or using tools. I waited for my daughter to come over one day and say "what's in the box"... and we assembled it together. Took us about 30 minutes with minimal (although not non-existent) frustration, and we are proud of the results (see photo). I collect crystals and needed a place to display some of them. This case is really nice. It's good quality without being too heavy and overbearing. You see the things on display, not the cabinet. My only complaint - no covers for the screw holes on top! Also, the instructions are a bit, well, I guess they are in the tradition of most assembly instructions... let's just put it that way. However, having said that, I repeat, my daughter and I got it together and it looks great. I recommend it. 5Good looking cabinet, but 1 design flaw and lousy instructions cause some problemsOnce it's built, it looks like a good display case. But there's some shoddy product design and the instructions are not helpful.Biggest flaw - there's nothing that locks the hinges into the frame, So the weight of the door pulls it down from the frame a small amount. It's a fraction of an inch, but it stops the door from closing flush until you force it a bit.The instructions are not written well. images aren't super clear and they could use some more inserts to zoom in on the detailed regions. The instructions have some grammatical mistakes ("hingers" "downard"). 1 step is missing completely - inserting the back glass into the wooden frame. The instructions don't call parts the same name consistently (is it the "metal handle" or "metal contact"? Later on is it the "metal contact" or the "adhesive") And they don't tell you that you need a small Phillips size #1 screwdriver. The Allen key doesn't fit into a tiny Phillips screw. Go figure. A bit of proofreading would have been greatly appreciated. Finally, it's basically impossible to tell the large pieces apart. There are 4 large glass sheets - 1 front, 1 back, and 2 sides. Which is which? Good luck figuring it out. Best we could tell the front glass is a smidge shorter than the others, but we couldn't figure out a difference between the sides and the back. And the top and bottom wood panels look nearly identical. Again, good luck telling them apart. The bottom has 4 small extra holes for the feet to go in but it's nearly impossible to see that from the instructions. 3Can be modified for lights, dust, etc.I'm using this product as a display case for my Iron Man collectible figures. Note that the interior dimensions are smaller than the full product dimensions. A 1/6 scale figure will not fit without removing a pane of glass, but you do have that option...I've modified the shelf height and removed a pane of glass (see picture above). It does not keep out dust, but does help reduce it. There is enough room to add 1/4 inch foam weather strip. There are gaps between the glass panels and the frame (in the back, sides, and front). So, you can run tape lights, wires, etc through the case. Assembly is easy and comes with instructions. It can be disassembled and reassembled easily, though stripping may be an issue at some point. 5would not buy againHusband put it together. Said it took more time than he thought it would. The only compliant I can stress is in the very top where the screws go in the company does not supply anything to cover over the holes which makes this item look cheap. 3Very cool display. (Added LED Strip Lighting) Very cool Glass Display, it arrived quick, and undamaged. The instructions could've been a little more "Instructive", there are small things that can help you that they won't explain how to do.. Aside that, it wasn't THAT big of a deal I guess. It is Extremely heavy, you might be able to lift it empty, but you might not want to put it anywhere up high, also, pay close attention to the glass panes, becuase they can fall and break super easily when you are assembling, so I cannot stress that enough to take your time and be careful... I added the led strip lighting for effect, it fit perfectly and only cost me $15. For $100 this display is definatly worth the buy, especially considering the ways you can modify it with lighting... Definatly recommend this. 4Great purchase. Would buy again.I was so happy to see this get delivered with none of the glass chipping or breaking. I know UPS/USPS/Fedex have sketchy delivery, so it's not usually the seller's fault, but I just didn't want the hassle. Thankfully, this curio case came in perfect condition. The wood frame on the sides, top, and bottom are preassembled and pre cut. They feel pretty sturdy for particle board. The process of sliding the side glass panels into the main back panel was a huge pain but with one other person helping me stablize everything, it worked out. The door particularly needed at least one other hand to make things easier.Everything fits well and the only gaps come from the door, which can easily be blocked with dustproof black foam stripes that can adhere around the borders. My favorite thing about it is the size. Each shelf actually fits quite an assortment of figures or other collectibles. The top wood panel is very dark however and casts a serious shadow on all my top shelf figures so eventually, i'll have to install some simple lights for when I want to show off.If there's any negative, i think it would have to be the top wood panel. If it were also clear glass, the case would be brighter and far more appealing. I might consider modifying it myself in the future. With free shipping, this is the only case I've found that is sleek and modern, not old and antique looking. It's not terribly expensive but is build sturdy, it's about table height and acts great as extra counter space and the little gray plastic feet work well to avoid destroying my floor boards. There really aren't many other alternatives, so thankfully, this ended up a great product.**note about the pictures**I am saving the middle shelf for some Gundam figures I plan on buying but leaving it empty would've been a shame, so I used it as a prison... A prison for BMO from Adventure Time... He can see everyone else having fun and living life while trapped in a cold (but well built) box of doom... His little felt hands and feet too weak to push the magnetically closed door open.... D: 5Not bad for the price. A mini-Detolf from Ikea.If you're familiar with Ikea Detolfs, then this is very similar. The build instructions are exact. The key differences being height (Detolf is about twice as tall), the framing (it's thin metal rods on a Detolf) and the texture of the base and top is much more of a smooth plastic than faux wood. Also, the shelves are not spaced out as far, so you won't be putting 12" figures in it.A Detolf will run you about $69 at Ikea, so while this is $20 more and half the height, it's a reasonable purchase due to the free shipping (was 53 pounds; the UPS guy waited to watch me carry it in as if to say 'FU').I conceded to purchase this over another Detolf cabinet simply due to needing something shorter to hold my computer case on. I would much rather have driven the hour to Ikea to get another Detolf were it not for the height considerations. I appreciate the free shipping for that reason.I also ran Dioder lights in it, and the framing does not accommodate that like the thin rods in a Detolf. I ended up using wire concealer that I painted black to run the wires. The surface of the top does not allow the double-stick tape to hold, so plan to use the metal supports that you screw in if you use LED bar lighting. The glass shelves will hold the tape no problem. I've had them in all my cabinets for 3 years and none have fallen (assuming you install them correctly per instructions. 4Has many scratches~ other than that, Nice display CabinetI would have given this Display cabinet five stars. As in you can see in my images, the cabinet is beautiful, and my action figures look great in it. The cabinet is very easy to put together, took me about 30 mins, just one person can get the job easily done. However, the cabinet glasses all have many scratches. I wouldn't mind Side or back glasses having scratches, but the door is in the front for people to see....I think they could definitely improve on packaging. The item arrived with minimal packaging. Just a piece of paper between all the glasses. I'm surprised that they arrived intact. So I guess, they must have used very good glasses, shatter-resistant. 3
