Customer Reviews

Skip this one. Pay a few more bucks for one from the "big box hardware store". After less than 50 crimps both retaining clips came off of the pins that hold the jaws in place with the handle. At first I thought that maybe I had knocked the pins against something, but as I tried to put the first clip back on, the second clip popped off. Luckily I was able to find them but was not able to get them securely attached again. Luckily I made a trip to the local hardware store and was able find a different version of the clips (pictured). These seem to work ok and have not had issues with them coming off. Either the original clips are too flimsy, or the groves in the pins are not deep enough for the original clips to hold them in place. Variety of jaws are great, but also had issues with the hooks that hold the jaws in place bending, making it very difficult to replace the jaws. Luckily I was able to finish the job with the clips I purchased locally, but would certainly not recommend this product. As noted in other reviews, no instructions included. YouTube was a great resource. 2Outstanding tool. Very impressed by the quality Very impressed by this tool. Aside from its size, which seems necessary for a tool that exerts as much force as this one does, this is a wonderful tool (like other reviewers have noted, the tool can't get into very cramped corners because the arms need to be opened close to 180 degrees to allow the jaws to fit around the pex with the crimp ring). For very cramped corners, I would suggest simply using a slip fitting instead (I had to do this on a join in the junction between a wall cavity & a support beam...The go/no-go tool was indispensible for checking crimps after compression. By the end of the job, I needed to tighten the tension on the arms by 1 point (going from 0 --> 1) in order to have each join pass the go/no-go gauge on the first try.I crimped close to 60 joins, some 1/2, 3/4 and 1" joins. After air pressure testing it for 2 hours, I found no leaks whatsoever. To help lining up the crimp ring, it seems easier to rest one of the jaws on the ring while closing the arms. Once the arms have mild tension on them, the crimp ring doesn't move. 5Very nice crimper at nice price For the price this unit is ok. However the jaw screws are very thin and if you over torque them they'll break. They send 2 extra screws just in case with the package. The wrench they send definitely isn't good quality. If you overtighten the nut it will strip the nut. I'd say it isn't correct type of wrench, it has to be off by 32nd inch to be slipping like that. I attached a PEX line to a 1/2 inch ball valve connector as a test. The crimp compressed nice and evenly and according to the supplied go/no go gauge it was a perfect crimp. I didn't need to calibrate the device, however if you need to calibrate it, it is not hard. Just loosen the nut on the back of the adjustment screw and turn one notch. It has 4 settings of tightness (0, 1, 2, and 3). It initially is factory set at 0, but it tightens well. 4Big but worked well This tool worked great for me. I only used 3/4" and 1/2" but the jaws were easy to put in and take out. The go/no go gauge is about the cheapest thing on the market...I had no idea if I got it right or not....finally just stopped checking. I just crossed my fingers when I turned on the water and had zero leaking fittings, so I must have done something right. The tool is large and a bit clumsy which is why I gave it only 4 stars....hard in dark spaces to see if you have it on the crimp ring right...and the tool is so large, sometimes it doesn't fit in the area you need to make a crimp, so plan ahead. 4Does its job well. This tool does its job well. The case is nice. The gauge is handy for knowing that each copper ring has been crimped to the proper tightness (not too tight or too loose). The dies can be changed easily. The black paint on my dies came off on the parts where they contact the copper crimp rings as I used them more, but this did not affect the quality of the results. There is now no paint left on the parts that contact the copper rings. 5Good but not great Works very well. I have only plumbed up one house so far. I have never had a leak. A little hard to get into tight places. OK for DIY work but you waste to much time on a big job. The 1/2 inch die needs to be offset toward the front. You can't mount drops and faucet bodies to blocking and then put on pipe and ring and then crimp it. The jaws are two thick at the front of the tool. A dedicated 1/2 or a 1/2 and 3/4 work much better. You seldom work in tight places with 3/4 pipe. Crimpers are great for bench work. Nice thing about the stainless steel clamp crimpers is one crimper works on all size clamps. 3Crimper that is well worth the money Had my whole house replumbed from polybutylene to PEX, plumber wanted $600 to connect the sinks and toilets. I decided I would just go buy a tool and try it myself. Now I wish I would have just done my whole house. This crimper makes it super easy: with minimal effort and the supplied go/no-go gauge, I had zero leaks in the dozen or so connections I did. Great tool! I now plan on doing all the water line connections for my basement. Sorry plumber guy! 5Better than needed for home projects. I've replumbed most of my crawlspace. I'll do my hot water heaters next. Well made and has saved me thousands of dollars in labor costs. 5but this tool is a great deal! It will crimp 4 size line ring ... I have only used this to replace a handful of water lines, several more to get started on very soon, but this tool is a great deal! It will crimp 4 size line ring for PEX (3/8, 1/2, 3/4 & 1 inch) instead of 2 (1/2 & 3/4) sizes like the competition plus it is cheaper the theirs, ($90 plus) It comes with everything you see. Purchase this and you will not be sorry, I wasn't. 5Great PEX Crimp tool worked great! I used the Apollo PEX Multi-Head Crimp Tool Kit for 1", 3/4" and 1/2" PEX tubing. I replaced the old corroded steel water lines in my entire house with PEX. This tool make the job very simple and quick, also at a much lower cost than using the push in type couplings. This tool worked great on every crimp with ZERO leaks. I used the go/no go gauge to check every crimp. This is a manual operated tool, it requires moderate amount of arm strength to produce the completed crimp. It is easy to change the dies in this tool. Two small screws need to be loosened with the provided wrench when removing the dies. Included in the kit is a package with two spare screws. The crimp tool kit came in a very useful plastic storage case that makes it great to keep all the parts together for safe storage. For anyone that needs to make more than a couple of PEX connections this tool kit is a good investment. 5
