These are the absolute best! I had a pair of Corona clippers for years, but the metal part that keeps the clippers closed broke, so I looked for a new pair. I saw a review from a professional gardener that said the Felco pruners should be the only ones you should consider, despite the fact that they are expensive. I decided to give them a try. I don t usually write product reviews, but after using the Felco clippers I felt compelled to share my opinion that they are probably the best tool I have ever bought. They open wider than my old clippers did, and require about half the effort to cut branches even thicker than the old ones could do at their best. It is truly a pleasure to use these in the garden. They are comfortable to hold, razor-sharp and almost feel like an extension of the hand. I will never regret a penny of what I spent to buy them. 5Puts other pruners to shame Always buy Felco. I am a professional gardener, and no pruners have come close to how satisfying these feel. They're perfectly balanced, feel unbreakable, and cut perfectly every time. They will last for years.If they start to get any rust spots on them, a little oil, steel wool, elbow grease and 5-10 min of your time and they'll be back to looking new.On a responsible gardening note, remember to clean your pruners regularly, especially if dealing with diseased plants. I have a spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol that does the trick quickly and easily.Nothing's worse than losing plants because your tools spread a disease. 5no planned obsolesce here! Lost my 4 yo Felco's under the rose this Spring, we found them in August, stuck shut, looked ruined. Right before buying another pruner, we decided to see if they could be cleaned up, maybe by a new anvil or blade...Lo and behold, after some energy with a brillo pad and a couple squirts of Boeshield (amazing stuff, WD 40 can only dream of being Boshield) they are in pretty good shape, cut a 3/4 inch apple branch with one squeeze. Great steel, easy blade to sharpen, a frugal investment. 5I should have listened to a previous reviewer... I did a little research, before placing my order for this pruner, and a previous purchaser downgraded them, due to the awkward "locking tab". Nonetheless, I went forward and ordered them anyway, as others gave this pruner good reviews.I've had mine for close to a year, and use them regularly. While they do indeed do a good job of cutting, now that this tool has "loosened up" a little, the blade lock is enough to drive you insane. It just won't stay disengaged. I'm now somewhat used to the fact that it easily engages with the slightest brush of my hand, as I squeeze the handles, so even though I'm as careful as possible, I have rather large hands, and roughly 75% of the time, I manage to engage the lock, as I'm simply squeezing the handle, while pruning.Would I recommend them? I'm not so sure, as they indeed cut quite well, but they're a royal pain to use..... 2Great pruner size for roses This is an ideal size for roses. You can cut the small stems for cut flower and also the bigger canes when heavier pruning is needed. I like that they will sell replacement blades. I sharpen mine often and after a few dozen times they need to be replaced. This time I treated myself to a whole new pruner and love it. 5Fits U.S. Men's Size: Small/Medium Hands :) Their super ergonomic and fit like a glove! Swiss Made Felco F8 Pruners are great but I prefer the F7s. Their super ergonomic and fit like a glove. I have U.S. Men's Size: Small/Medium Hands and they're the perfect size regardless of what Felco website and their packaging states. They're all metal components and parts no plastic parts besides for the plastic and rubber stoppers which are very comfortable. In my opinion the F7 & F8 are the best designed and made pruners on the market. If you have bad wrist and hands I found that the F7s power through thicker branches better than the F8s. The Swiss, Germans and us Americans make the best hand-tools out there. I love that you can get all genuine Felco replacement parts for this hand-tool. I recommend getting the Felco 910+ Leather Holster to protect these beautiful pruners.The only other pruners I would have purchased were the Leatherman: Genius Pruners - but they were retired unfortunately, hope they bring them back. 410 years later and still in love with my Felco pruners I was tired of running through at least one pair of cheap pruners every year, so I decided to upgrade. The price made me hesitate, but the reviews convinced me. Right out of the box, I was in love with these pruners! So sharp! So comfortable in my hand! With these, I could - and did - prune for hours without getting tired. (For those wondering about hand size and fit, I'm a woman with small-medium hands.) Well, it's now 10 years later and I still love my Felco pruners. I don't allow anyone else to use them, but that doesn't mean that I've been gentle with them. We live on 5 wooded acres and it feels as though I'm constantly beating back "the jungle." Loppers are heavy and quickly tire me out, so I use my Felco pruners for everything that can fit inside the cutting mechanism. I've never sharpened them. I've never really cleaned them, other than a quick swipe with a rag. I left them out in the rain once, but some steel wool and oil restored the spring. The blade has a few small dings as a result of my tendency to tackle over-sized woody branches. I appreciate that I can easily get a replacement spring and a new blade.... After 10 years of heavy use and not a little neglect, my pruners deserve some sprucing up, which is what brought me to shop Felco items today.By the way, my practice of not letting anyone else use my pruners is due to my husband's distressing tendency to break my gardening tools. He was so impressed by my Felco pruners that he bought himself a pair in a large size to fit his hands. Amazingly, they have lasted for years and still look almost new. 5Not real Felco Pruner. Received a cheap knock off After about 8 months I ordered replacement Felco blades, using the part number from the instructions that came with the Pruners. The new blades were very different and could not work. I then realized that several of the parts in the Pruner were different than shown in the instructions. The Pruner I received is definitely not made by Felco.I looking through other reviews, I see at least two other people received these cheap phony Pruners. 1F-8 very nice. Best for larger hands. Tried an F-6 too. This Felco F-8 is an excellent bypass pruner. It is a little heavy and a holster (Felco F-912 Leather Scabbard Holster with Belt Clip) is a good accessory.However, the F-8 seems best for larger hands. I have short hands/fingers, and so I also tried a Felco F-6 (Felco F-6 Classic Pruner For Smaller Hands), which is the same pruner made for smaller hands. Frankly, the F-6 was not much of an improvement for me, so I stuck with the F-8. The F-6 has a significantly smaller cutting capacity compared to the F-8, although the difference might not matter for ordinary flower gardening.F-6 specs: Length 7 1/4 inches, Weight 7.5 ounces. Recommended cutting capacity is 0.8 inches.F-8 specs: Length 8 1/4 inches, Weight 8.7 ounces. Recommended cutting capacity is 1.0 inches.Sharpening this type pruner is easy and requires no dissassembly(see Felco's directions/instructions). Use the Corona Clipper AC 8300 Sharpening Tool. And if you don't keep them sharp (and lightly oiled) they will soon dull and rust and be no better than a much less expensive pruner that is dull and rusted.If you don't think you'll maintain the tool maybe get one of these instead:1. Corona Clipper BP 3180 1-Inch Capacity Bypass Pruner with Vinyl Coated Steel Handles. I've used this compact pruner in the past and they work fine if maintained. If not maintained, they'll dull and rust too, but they're still less than half the price of the Felco. The quality is nothing like the Felco's, but they're cheap, small and light.2. Corona Clipper 1-Inch Capacity Bypass Pruner With Vinyl Coated Aluminum Handles BP 6250. I haven't seen these, but they look like a Felco knock-off. They might be the best value for the money regardless of brand.In my opinion, while I haven't used them, for the average gardener the Corona Clipper 1-Inch Capacity Bypass Pruner With Vinyl Coated Aluminum Handles BP 6250 is probably the most sensible choice out of all those listed herein (including the Felco's). Corona is a good brand for most homeowners, and their products are widely available at local stores selling gardening supplies. Honestly the Felco is overkill for most home gardeners. Really for pros. 4Ability to disassemble them reveals the quality of these precision crafted tools. To give the pruners 5 stars is to short change them. I ve had them for over a year now and its not only the basic quality of them that continues to impresses me - as so many others have attested to - but it s the ability to maintain them like like the machine they are rather than simple pruners.All the components have quality metals and precision tooling. The strength of the build means I can try to abuse them by cutting branches too large and not fear I will break them.I use them in all weather and underwater in my pond. Occasionally they also get left out in the rain despite my diligence. Happens to everyone.Today pruning my cattails under water they bit into a piece of gravel hidden in the roots. I winced. Looking at them I realized they had already needed sharpening, had only a very small nick in the blade, and needed a deep cleaning.I did a complete strip down and was able to clean off they few spots of rust - mainly the piece with the teeth that hold the main lug locked. I polished off almost all the grime and corrosion from the blades, wiped all the parts down and sharped the blade.I use them every day I m in the yard and I m an avid gardener who maintains his trees as well as the garden beds with years of experience behind me.The ability to remove the cutting blade makes it easy to give it the sharpest edge your sharpening stone can achieve. I sharpen them maybe three times a year and they stay razor sharp.Assuming Felco never goes out of business, I can always get replacement parts if needed. These are the pruners for the rest of my life.The photo shows all the parts. Special note is the very tiny washer. Never took that screw off before and was glad I didn t miss it/drop it.If you don t buy one of their pruners you ll be making a big mistake. . Worth every penny. 5
