Customer Reviews

NO MORE BRUISES OR CUTS I know my use of these are not what these were designed for but it works for me. I bought these for protection of my arms when I play with my dogs. The nails sometimes cut me and when they grab my arm I sometimes pull away and it cuts me. So these are awesome now I can play with my dogs even more. 5COTTON, not Kevlar. COTTON, not Kevlar. Just another Chinese rippoff. I chopped right through these with a kitchen knife with almost no effort. See the pics. Try that with real Kevlar. These are just overpriced yellow dyed cotton. 1SHORT SLEEVE OR LONG SLEEVE? These Kevlar sleeves are adequate forearm protection for most jobs. They provide a safety shield against burns, cuts, scraps, and some sharp objects, not all. A needle or safety pin will go right through the material with no problem. The jobs that pose this risk are too many to list.Since most thorns are flared, they do not penetrate the kevlar as easily as needles.Years ago, I made a great pair of sleeves out of heavy cotton duck cloth and Velcro. They did the job but they were rather stiff and hot.Keep in mind, there are reasonable limits governed by common sense. If you jam your arm into a table saw or stab it with a ice pick, you might need to see a doctor. The sleeves I'm currently wearing have been washed several times. They are now 15 inches long from hem to hem. The new, unworn sleeves are 18 inches from hem to hem.The same two problems exist with both the Kevlar and my homemade sleeves:1. After being worn for awhile, they tend to fold down toward the wrist. Simply pin the protector to your shirt sleeve with a large safety pin. Pinning this material is easy. If you don't wear a shirt, you have a bigger problem than I want to belly up to.2. If these sleeve protectors are worn for hours in hot conditions, some folks might suffer from a heat rash on their arms which might be as painful as thorn pricks. This is nothing more than the same fungus that causes diaper rash. Again, the solution is simple. Coat your arms with 40% zinc oxide ointment and bath powder beforehand. Most drugstores and big-box marts carry their own store brands. It's commonly called diaper rash ointment and baby powder.Whatever works best usually is. 5Great for groomers! I'm a professional groomer. I use these, in conjunction with an Elizabethan collar (aka cone of shame) to protect myself when working with aggressive animals. I've been bitten once while wearing them, and I'm certainly glad I was wearing them! I still had some nasty bruising, but he didn't break the skin and it barely left a scrape. That dog had sent several people to the emergency room multiple times, so that tells you how serious the bite would have been without these.I also use them when bathing/grooming cats. They are excellent protection against claws (although I haven't been bitten by a cat yet so I can't speak to the teeth protection). They do get very hairy and kind of itchy, but I just throw them in the washer/dryer and they come out perfect. 5saving my arm from cuts and bruises! I have fragile skin from steroids and anything like a rose bushes, my dogs feet create a cut a bruising... therefore, when I am outdoors covering my arms is a necessity. I am very pleased with the quality and durability of this product. It has been very hot in OKlahoma this past month and wearing the sleeves has not created any real heat issues.. Would highly recommend this product 5Work Well for Our Purposes Work really well for me in giving meds to the cats, and my husband uses them in the yard to protect his arms. I haven't had a major scratch or bite on my hands or arms since I started using them, but I'm sure that if one landed just right I could still lose an occasional battle:) Also they do wash well. I'd order again, and in fact, I have. I do recommend. 5SAVES MY SKIN! They work! I am 69 with thinning skin on the forearms but still do lots of yard work, hedge and tree trimming, plus having both loving dogs and cats as pets who dig into me now and then. Wearing the sleeves has really helped doing the yard work. They go up past my elbows, stay up, do not feel hot even in Texas summer heat, and wash up nicely for the next use. Had a dermatologist appointment this week, told the doctor, and he said this is an excellent product he tells patients to get and use to prevent slow healing blood blisters, nicks, cuts, and scrapes when doing outside yard work. Got 3 pair for $21. Gave one pair to neighbor lady who regularly tears her elderly arms up cutting and cleaning holly bushes surrounding her home. Well worth the price for us senior landscapers! 5Great for Special Education Staff These are a life saver special education staff that work with students who scratch or bite. I wish I knew about them sooner! They won't protect you from bruises, but they will stop you from getting cuts or breaks in the skin from scratches and bites that can lead to infection. I did have allergic reactions when I first used these, but if I wash them with my regular detergent in cold water and don't use fabric softener I seem to be more tolerant of the material. 5Soooo nice not to have scrapes and bruises after working on something on the car, truck or upgrading my wood fence !!! I was skeptical about the color of these but the price swayed me to get them and I was glad I did. I have worn these several times and they have saved my arms from scrapes and bruises. The skin on my arms have been badly sunburned so many times that now the slightest bump leaves my arms bruised. I do wish the manufacturer would offer light grey as a color, black would be too hot in the summer. The material is good and does give a good layer of protection. Soooo nice not to have scrapes and bruises after working on something on the car, truck or upgrading my wood fence !!! 5... skin right off my arms which creates a very bad bruise that sometimes bleeds profusely As I get older my skin gets thinner and when my dog and I are playing he can scrape the skin right off my arms which creates a very bad bruise that sometimes bleeds profusely. I got these so I can play with the dog and not worry about scraping and cutting my arms or backs of my hands. It fits snugly and works very well for this purpose. You can also use it while working in your garden to prevent scrapes with thorny shrubs, Vines Etc. 5
