Customer Reviews

It actually works!I got this to remove chloramines from my turtles aquarium. With it being a brand I had never heard of- I was of course a little hesitant. I tested my water before the filter and after the filter. Chloramines show up on this test as total chlorine (chloramine is chlorine + ammonia) which is the top square on the test. The second square is free chlorine which is just regular chlorine. The test on the left is before and the test in the right is after. So it did indeed take out the majority of the chlorine AND chloramines (but it did raise the PH level, the 3rd square on the test). I m not concerned with PH though. It claims that it is good for 10,000 gallons, and I have an 80 gallon aquarium I have to fill 2/3rd of the way up every week. So when my readings start showing chloramines and chlorine, I will update this review.Overall, this was a cheaper option that having to get an under the sink filter that had to be replaced every 1000 gallons! So far I am very pleased!***Update: 6/25/19, I've been using this for 7 months now and it's still going strong! I change my turtle's water every 10 days like clock work. I have an 80 gallon tank, and I drain, and would estimate I refill around 40 gallons (sometimes more, but never less) each time. I check the chloramines and chlorine each time. I've double checked my strips with our regular tap water multiple times as well. Our tap shows chloramines, and then once the water runs through this, it doesn't show! Still will update when the actual filter stops doing it's job.****UPDATE! 2/3/2020, My test strips started to show chlorines, but still not chloramines. Ordering a new filter now! Lasted Nov 2018 until Feb 2020!5Won't quit using thisWorks well for our gardening and other outdoor usages. It has made a difference for our ducks and goats, too. I have put out water that was filtered along side one that was not filtered, and every animal in the yard went to only the filtered bowl. They know.5Great For My Garden & Fruit TreesMy garden and seedlings are jumping for joy with this water filter. My fruit trees are looking very perky too. I know the filter is making a difference because the garden was struggling to get started then within days of adding the filtered water things changed quickly. I'll be certain to always use this filter. I have a short hose running from the faucet to the filter which I strapped down to immobilize and then ran the garden hose from the filter. I am hoping to avoid the breakage that others have had. So far So good.5The water flow/ output is too slow I read another review saying this filter did not slow down the water flow or water pressure, but that is not true at all. The label says the water pressure output is only 1.5 gallons per minute. I tried the filter on a hose with high water pressure, but the output was little more than a trickle. Do not be fooled by the pictures, theres not enough pressure on the output to use for a sprinkler system or things that require significant water pressure. With that said, this filter does what its supposed to if you are very patient. seemingly filters out tap water as it should, although i did not actually test the water for contaminants. I intended to use this filter at work for filling up 70gal reservoirs for use in a hydroponic grow house, but it would take about 50 mins which is way too slow for a fast-pace work environment. 3Excellent filterMy initial findings seen in the post below were not accurate due to a faulty chlorine meter, this is an excellent filter. I purchased a second digital chlorine meter and my chlorine level is greatly reduced from 1.2% to .02% during the first week. During the second week the reading has gone up to .03 which is still well over a 90% reduction in the chlorine. I plan to continue using it and take bi weekly readings. I will post my longer term findings here in a few months.___________________________________________________This filter is better then many hose filters however it doesn't quite live up to it's claims. It claims 99% chlorine removal and 97% chloramine removal. I tested it shortly after hooking it up yesterday. Chlorine and Chloramines were significantly reduced the percent was not as high as advertised it reduced the chlorine and chlorimines by about 75%. I was using it within the middle suggested PSI range for optimal use. I suggest the seller update their findings for how much chlorine this filter actually removes as its significantly less then 99%. I will be testing the Boogie Blue next.5I believe the PH drop is due to the filter removing chlorine better than the chemical treatment didI purchased this filter to remove chlorine and chloramine from my tap water for my hydroponics system. I was originally using chemical treatment but it was getting far too costly. I have no means of testing whether this actually removed the chlorine; however, I did notice a difference. In my hydroponics system I always remove chlorine from the water first, then add my fertilizer, and lastly I check my PH level to ensure my plants can uptake the nutrients properly. When I was using the chemical chlorine treatment I could add my fertilizer and there would no change in my PH level, it would remain at 7.0 which is how it comes out of the tap so I always had to lower the PH myself. However, after using this filter instead of chemical treatment I noticed my fertilizer dropped the PH from 7.0 to 5.5 which is common. I did a test on the water coming out of the filter and it is still 7.0. I believe the PH drop is due to the filter removing chlorine better than the chemical treatment did. In the end my vegetables are doing well and this is far cheaper and easier than treating with chemicals.4Garden reacted positively right awayReally like this filter. Garden reacted positively right away when being watered with chloramine removed. NOTE: Have to be very careful to not cross thread it when connecting hoses. Plastic threads are pretty soft compared to the metal hose ends. I reduced the risk somewhat by adding quick release fittings on the filter and hose ends. I used it a lot and label says good for 10,000 gallons. I probably ran that much thru it, over the summer and fall. Next year I will get some test strips to check to see remaining effectiveness. If it's not still effective, I WILL buy another.4Arrived with only one end cap, so not sure if it will work...The instructions printed on the filter say to remove the filter from the hose and to replace the end caps when the filter is not in use. If end caps are not available, a sealed storage bag should be used. Either way, the unit should not be exposed to air for an extended period of time. Well, my unit arrived today, but it only has one end cap. So, the other end has been exposed to air at least since shipping. Will my unit be effective? If so, I might update my rating and review...Update: Water comes out of the filter at a ph of 9.1, compared to 7.5 pre-filtration. No change in TDS. The change in pH is consistent with the pH change from my kitchen's RO filtration system. Given the change in pH, I would say this filter is certainly having an effect. Unfortunately, without a chlorine meter I cannot be certain how much chlorine/chloramine has been removed. However, the filtered water did pass the taste/smell test, i.e., I could not taste or smell any chlorine, which I normally can quite easily. Updated to 4 stars, and I found a suitable end cap for the male end that was missing.4Works great for Koi!I bought this product to filter my horrendous city water that I was using to fill my koi pond, and water my plants. This product is super easy to use and works well. When I add water to my pond the fish have zero issues. Previously, I would have to add dechlorinator to my pond water to reduce the chemicals. I prefer using this filter because I am adding less ingredients to my pond for a clean and healthy atmosphere for the wildlife.I found that after 2 weeks of everyday use (30-45 min.) of constant flow, I needed to change the filter. I didn t do any fancy test to see my water quality. I simply did a taste test from the hose; it was clean, and fresh in the beginning. After 2 weeks I could taste the hardness again. You can also screw off the caps and looks inside. The filter turns a dark black color, and becomes heavier in weight after absorbing so many toxins. The price is higher than many would want to pay, but for me this product is totally worth it. The investment I have in my Koi pond, and plants in my garden are worth the extra effort and money to keep healthy. I also read my local city water report and was shocked to see what is added in.Best of luck my fellow gardeners!5Koi Pond Approved (In my yard, anyway)We are an organic gardening, water harvesting, fish growing family. A different purchased filter, killed our koi overnight. When our city switched to chloramine, filtration was no longer optional and we were forced to upgrade. Reading about charcoal's ability to neutralize chloramine, I thought this filter was a possible solution to our chloramine filtration needs. With trepidation, I filled the pond. I have been filling the pond for the past year and not one fish has perished. I'm very thankful for this filter and its reasonable price. I will now use quick connects to preserve the threads, although the threads survived one year of frequent disconnects here. Thank you!!5Great for vegetable garden if you have chloramine in your water. This is a great filter if your water has chloramines, which are much harder to remove than chlorine. If you only have chlorine save yourself some money and get the cheaper inline filters from other companies. But if you have chloramines (like more and more places do these days) this is your best bet for an in-line filter. My seedlings and all vegetables do much better with filtered water from this filter instead of straight tap water.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND quick connectors for this filter. Personally I use the "Claber 8983 Garden Hose To Accessory Quick Connector Set" because it's plastic rather than brass (I worry about lead (Pb) in brass fittings). You will need two sets of these quick connectors if you want to easily disconnect your hose, one before and one after (see photo). This makes it easy to attach a watering wand or hook it up to a drip irrigation system (see photos).5
