Customer Reviews

Quality not consistent I was shocked at the condition of the sheets when I opened the package. While there was no damage to the shrinkwrap or the product, the sheets were obviously not cut on one side with a sharp bladed machine (see image). Several of the edges were just mangled. I've ordered this product before I am just not sure if it was this vendor. It's not an expensive product but it also is not difficult to produce. Better quality control could make a difference.EDIT - The company did replace the product with a perfect batch at no cost. 2Bookboards? Yep. Mixed Media Construction? Oh, yeah. Grafix Medium Weight Chipboard Sheets, 8.5 X 11 Inches, Natural, 25-PackDouble these guys up for sturdy and fantastic bookboards. I typically use just a single layer, and have no complaints.Because these are mid-weight, I can fussy cut 'em, even once cardstock has been adhered to one or BOTH sides. Now, that is an excellent quality.I wouldn't be without a pack or two of these Uber Useful sheets of chipboard - they allow me to construct sturdy and high quality compartments and drawers for Mixed Media projects of all varieties. 5A great deal for self-publishers If you are into bookbinding, then this chipboard will save you money. Seen the prices for so-called "book board" lately (?), it is obscene. (4 boards for $12.00). And all that is is a chipboard with a little more stiffener for hardcover books. This one will work for me, and saves me a ton of money. I can do more books, and save time and money waiting to save up for book board, which is a real ripoff. This medium weight is 50-60 weight versus 70-80 weight for book board, I don't notice much difference, and if I glue other boards to it, it reaches the thickness of that high-priced book board. This is the poor man's version, that's all. Buy it. 5Excellent Product, If You Have The Right Project The product came exactly as described -- edges are straight and the covers are smooth.I was looking for a replacement to the We R Memories Chipboard, unfortunately this one is noticeably thinner. It will for the simple decoupage project, this won't hold up to a lot of weight. 5Great for book covers and mixed media I purchased this in July of last year, so I've been using it long enough to really get a clear idea of the quality, etc. I purchased it to make book covers for mini art journals for my granddaughters, for which it worked perfectly. I cut it with my Cricut Explore machine using the deep cut blade and multiple cuts. I've been really thrilled with the results. Not only did the book covers made with this chipboard stand up to being decorated by little hands with tons of paint, it has also lasted through being tossed around, stepped on etc. in a little ones room. It's a really sturdy chipboard. My favorite use is to create oversized tags for mixed media creations. I can layer papers, paints, glues, etc plus add heavier embellishments and it stands up to them all. And the 12" x 12" size goes a long way for me. I'll definitely be ordering this again. 5OK for shipping, not great for my craft projects. I bought this a long time ago to try with a die cut machine. I had actually been referred to it by another site and I wish I had done my research a little more. Now that I have my new caliper I can say with certainty that the thickness on this is about 1.43 mm which is way too thick for most die cut machines. Even using heavy duty scissors is rather difficult for this particular chipboard. If you are looking for chipboard for the silhouette machines, I highly suggest buying their brand. I have tried out several different brands and the best results are their own brand since they make it pretty thin. However, this particular chipboard is not horrible for some projects. My biggest complaint was that the ends of the pieces are smashed so they do not look very nice. Since they are difficult to cut with heavy duty scissors I can either deal with the smashed ends or suffer with trying to cut them. I have used a few for shipping some products that needed to be kept semi-protected and they worked well for that. So, for my purposes they are good for shipping and bad for crafts. I'm glad I tried them out, though. At least I found something to help with shipping certain products! 4Flimsy, thin, and cut "grain short" I am disappointed in this chipboard. For my purposes, I needed an exact measurement of 8.5"x11"; yet this chipboard measured about 1/16" short of 11". For many that might not be an issue, but for me, it meant trimming hundreds of sheets of papers to make a neat and tidy book. The other issue is that the board is cut "short grain" which means that the fibers of the board are running across the board, not up and down. Again, this might not matter to you, or it might be an advantage, say if you are making a book that is 11" wide and 8.5" tall, but for my purpose, I needed the grain to run "long". There was no way to know this before purchasing. Also, I believe the board is fairly flimsy. Again, there was no way to know from the description. My caliper measured the board at .1.2 mm thick or .05 inch thick. .05 inch is 1/20th of an inch. For me it's too thin. 2Not Meant for Intricate Cuts I was very disappointed to see that it wouldn't work well with intricate cuts. As you can see in the pictures, it started to rip as the Cricut Explore Air 2 started the more tinier of cuts. I was able to make use of the stack I got, which I'm satisfied with. For those who don't have a Cricut Maker, I suggest creating your own material and setting it at 350 w/ 4 cuts and using a deep cut blade. It doesn't go through all the way, but enough to make a difference. 3Grafix has changed the thickness of their medium weight chipboard! Much thinner so be forewarned. Just received my 8 1/2 by 11 pack today. Was immediately disappointed that Grafix has changed the thickness of their medium weight and it is now much thinner. I just finished up my previous pack so I was able to compare the two sheets and it is definitely much thinner. They need to sell by actual thickness or the point system I have seen so we can actually see what they are selling. Medium weight is obviously open to interpretation and their new thinner version appears to be just another marketing ploy to increase profits. 3Perfect chipboard for packaging art prints! I use these chipboard sheets to package art prints inside a cello sleeve so it doesn't bend during shipping, and it's definitely sturdier than the 40pt Recollections brand chipboard that was discontinued at Michaels. If you're using it for a similar purpose, I would say that you'd still need to package it in a non-bendable envelope.Things to note:- this board is thick enough where it can't easily be cut using a smaller paper trimmer with the tiny blades, but needs a heavier-duty guillotine style paper cutter- the price on these chipboard sheets fluctuates frequently, so I would recommend doing a price alert on it. In the past 6 months, I've seen the 8.5x11 fluctuate from $5.50 -12, and the 12x12 go from $7.50 to $12. 5
