Customer Reviews

Easy To Set Up First I purchased one of many door chimes with fifty-something different chimes. It was too hard to set up, and the chimes go on for too long. Then I tried this product (Heath Zenith Wireless Entry Alert Chime). It's already set to play the Westminster chime (also used by many chiming clocks). Two other options are a single dings and two dings. The volume is a physical dial, easy to use. It took only a few minutes to set up. Plug in the main unit where you want to hear the chime. Put the two sensors, one on the door and the other next to it on the door jam. (Make sure you remove the paper keeping the battery from running down while in the packaging.) And you are done. It just works. 5I wish I read the 1&2 star reviews. Not good. Purchased (in 2016) this it as a back up because previous door chime started acting funny. It worked great for about 8 month. Then it stop chiming when patrons would come in. I replaced the battery. It worked okay for roughly 2 months. Then it started malfunctioning again. I changed the battery again....give it a break by unplugging...wipe down the coils and it would only work for 1 DAY!After returning from vacation, I notice the chime would simply sound off every 15 minutes without anyone entering the office. It would not sound off when someone entered. The staff shared with me that it suddenly started acting this way while I was away. I again tried to find a remedy but no luck. A colleague told me that I have been using the wrong battery, although I doubt it I will do my due diligence and purchase the EXACT battery match.I wish I thoroughly read the reviews for this product. I don't purchase products whos 1 or 2 star reviews are close their 5 star.*******I will update****** 2Replaced an Earlier Version, to My Great Disappointment Bought this to replace an earlier (pre-Zenith) version that I had inadvertently damaged. My original "Heath" unit worked just fine. The 'improved' electronics in this new Zenith-influenced unit appear to be much more location sensitive: I spent half the day trying to find someplace where the receiver would work at all - and even then 'sporadically' at best. I'm happy for those 106 who people had better luck with this unit than I did , but I find myself more aligned with those 106 other people, who demonstrated their disappointment by giving this product a less-than-4-Star rating. 3Wish it was louder but still works fine. This works as described, I was looking for something easy to install. Which means no wiring. The sensors were easy to attach to the door and chime plugs directly into an outlet. The only thing I wish it did was chimed louder. In all fairness I placed the chimer in another room so I can hear it throughout the office, it chimes great if you are in the same room. But with ac going and people talking it does get muffled some by the other noises. 4Not useful I purchased this unit as I have been using them for years as door annunciators in multiple businesses. They used to be a robust unit with A23 (12 v) batteries that lasted forever, and with tones to select from that were appropriate in a business environment. Apparently not anymore. This unit plays Westminster Chimes or a residential "Ding-Dong" chime tone, and that's it. And the new unit uses only a small button cell battery, not the A23 of the older series. Tried unsuccessfully to get it to just "DING", which it is supposed to do per the instructions, by removing a jumper. Returned for credit. Don't bother with this unit... not suitable for business in my opinion. And if your need is residential there are so many other units with more tones and features to select from. 1this is a quick easy install, should work with limited issues This worked about 10% of the time. Installed, worked for one night. Would not work again. Tested, battery died. (battery died less than a month after ordering unit), replaced battery, worked for a few hours then nothing...again. As an electrician, this is a quick easy install, should work with limited issues. Not the case. Tried multiple configurations, making sure the sensor was making contact, tried multiple locations for the receiver to make sure distance wasn't an issue. Could not get reliable use. Unfortunately, the window for return has closed so I am stuck with a useless piece of equipment and have to now order something else. 1Great for leaving the back door open at night I easily installed this item. The plastic packing is minimal and conservative. Once opened, there are the main components and a set of screws and a spacer piece. I didn't need either. I just plugged in the receiver and double-sided taped the two magnetic pieces to my screen door top. I tested it twice and it's great!! As soon as the door is open, the alarm (an 8 chime Westminster note) sounds. The volume is controllable with a simple screwdriver on the back of the plug unit. Not to worry, the plug can reach far away. Rooms away without any wires. That's right: NO WIRES. Can't beat this. I tried to find this at a local hardware store and they never heard of such an item. Strange. Anyway, this is a great item that I can now sleep peacefully with the back door open to cool the home at night and know if something happens, I'll know about it with a nice "chime". Cheers!! 5Range of only a few feet This looked like what I needed: a sensor I could attach to an outside gate up against the house leading to the backyard. I set up the system with the AC receiver/chime plugged in to a exterior wall under a window about 20 feet from the sensor outside. It worked for a couple of days, then wouldn't "chime" even though the red LED on the sensor indicated it was working. I put a fresh battery in the sensor just in case, but it still didn't work. I removed the sensor (magnet and transmitter) and found it worked (triggering the chime to ring) only when it was within about six feet of the chime (still outside the house). Pretty useless as a wireless chime. I would return it if I could or at least exchange it for another to give it another try. 1Great product for elderly. Arrived and installed primary and remote unit (for second door in about 45 min--most of that was careful reading of the instructions). It may not be clear to all that the senors and transmitters have to be set individually for unique tones. Once set though, they work fine. Used for elderly grandfather with chime in bedroom so he can detect if any entrance doors open at night. Unit is well made with battery for sensors (chime uses 110v).. No complaints (do drill a pilot hole for any wood screws--screw heads easily strip otherwise. I also split the double surface tape (down length) to better spread load when attached to metal door (no drilling). Instructions do mention that a wireless doorbell will activate chime so maybe others might try that solution if they are unhappy with the door alarm feature. 5This is a great door monitor for the price, but choose a different tape. The main unit plugs into a simple outlet with no fuss. You will probably take an entire outlet due to its size, so be prepared. The smaller unit and magnet trigger are of decent quality. The plastic door is a little awkward to get into, I received a few nasty cuts from it while trying to set up the battery. The real downer was the "tape" included with the magnet and companion smaller piece. It is not quality sticky tape. They strongly urge you to drill into wood to make this work properly, but I have a metal door in my office. After a month, one of the sides ripped off from the "tape," forcing me to buy a second full unit to replace a simple part.If you do buy this, make sure you get 3M mounting tape with it for a more secure stick.Overall, it is a good product (even with the bad tape), and I will purchase again if I move to a different office or I am in need of a notification system like this. 4
