Customer Reviews

Colors, numbers, sorting (& graphing for older children)My 3 year old likes this game. The difficulty to squeeze depends on where you hold it; which is important to me. My 3 year old canhold it on the frogs cheeks (easier) yet my 5 year old can squeeze it further back (harder). Lessons with colors, sorting, counting & number recognition. My 5 year old also uses it for graphing. I'm happy with my purchase. I would have given the game 5 stars if it came with matching color cups to sort the flies into. One or two flies fit in the frogs mouth. My children don't care/notice the point of this game but if it had matching cups to place the flies into it would seem more like a game with a purpose. Get the flies ;now what? We will have to get creative in that sense. 4The concept is good...butThe concept is good, hence the 2 stars instead of one, but the product is not worth the money. I am a teacher and am used to purchasing things like this often and the quality does not stack up to item previously purchased in this price range. The frogs are not good for the strength of small hands of most children and the pieces would be better in plastic so they could be easily cleaned and disinfected. I did not open it to discover these things until after the return period or I would have. 2I purchased these as fun manipulative to help with pre-writing skillsI purchased these as fun manipulative to help with pre-writing skills, as advertised. It seemed like a good concept, but the product fell quite short of what it was designed for. Your child is supposed to squeeze the frogs, which should open the frog's mouth. Then the frog can eat the flies. Fun! Except our frogs were super hard. It was difficult for me to squeeze them open with one hand, even though I can milk cows and goats. There's no way a small kiddo can squeeze these suckers open to bite the flies. I gave 3 stars because the kids can still pry the frog's mouth open and stuff the flies in. The flies are made of a cheap foam which can be damaged quickly if a little sibling grabs one and takes a bite. (Supervise! Definitely a choking hazard!) Over all, the kids enjoy it, it wasn't very expensive and they can use the flies for counting. Not exactly as described or any good for the use I intended, but the kids still enjoy it. 3Don't buy itThe frogs are plastic.... Bugs, and both dice are foam. When my kids roll the dice... say they get red with 3. They want to put 3 red flies in the frogs mouth.... PROBLEM> THESE FROGS ONLY HOLD ONE BUG AT A TIME!!! This doesn't make it fun to play or teach counting with. Don't waste your money.... make one out of a paper sack and print off some bugs then buy some actual dice for the colors and counting or ... make your own. That will be more fun than this. Very disapointed. 1Cute and funMy kids love this game!! So cute and fun.Only a few floors for in the mouth at a time. I thought they would all for in the frogs mouth and belly but only the mouth open for flies.Would be more convenient if they all fit &went into the frogs belly's for storage. But we love them 5Froggy Feeding FunI ordered this game for my daughter, who is two. She knows all her colors, can identify numbers, and can count, so I thought this game would be a lot of fun for her. The frog pieces are really cute, and it's simple enough for a young child to follow along. I also like that it teaches waiting for your turn. The only problem I have with the game is that the frog itself is hard to use when you have tiny hands. Even I have trouble picking up the game pieces with the frog. We usually end up using our hands instead of the frog.Other than that, this is a cute and fun game that young children will enjoy-also, no batteries needed, so that's a plus for parents/caregivers! 4A tolerable Family Game....finally!Got this game as a "rainy day" savior. Worked great - my two year old can manage the frogs, so I'm not sure about the other reviews. There are so many different ways to play that this that it's almost always a "new" game to keep the attention of my 4 year old as well. Sometimes we play just the color die, others just the number, sometimes both.....or make up something else. Both kids seem to play this independently fine, and grown ups aren't tortured to play along on this one. (Chutes and Ladders was unfortunately an epic fail on all sides, took too long and the ups/downs of the game were too much for my son at this time *sigh*.)The kids are proud to show their skills with colors, numbers and counting. It's easy to reinforce "playing nice" between the siblings with this game.Overall, I'm happy with this purchase. 5Good for counting and learning colors but the frogs are hard to squeeze for little ones.A good learning toy but not as fun as I thought. I was hoping to be able to fill up the frogs with "bugs".. but you can only put 2 bugs in the frogs mouth at once. In the instructions it lists a few "activities" you can do with this game and most include squeezing the sides of the frog to open the mouth which I expected. But I have an almost 3 year old and she can't do it on her own - so the "squeeze with one hand and put "flies" in with the other doesn't work. We did play with it for a while but only with the flies and dice. We rolled the dice and picked out colors and counted.. but we won't be using the frogs for the most part. I love the idea behind it but didn't make it up to what I had in mind. 3Lots of fun, but with a few shortcomingsWe have had a lot of fun playing with this game. It's great for practicing counting, patterns, numbers, and colors. We've even made towers with the flies and given the frogs rides in our toy trucks. It's very open ended, but comes with several good suggestions of ways to play. My three year old really enjoyed. My one big complaint (shared with others) is that the frogs are so stiff that my three year old cannot open their mouths. It takes an effort for me as an adult even. I think the plastic has relaxed a bit over time, but not much. I also wish the cavity in the frog was larger so he could feed more than a couple of flies. The flies and the dice are made of foam. They are light-weight, but sturdy. 4Make sure you read description! From the picture We assumed this would be a game where you insert the flies into frog mouth and since my daughter is at the stage where she enjoys shoving small stuff into other things we thought it would be perfect. Found out quickly this game is specifically designed to strengthen hand muscles and was not what we thought it would be, so probably our bad for not reading it's whole description. Tried to play it with my 2 yr old daughter and 5 yr old son. They were excited to try but got easily frustrated since the frog mouths were so hard to squeeze open!! I could barely get the one to open. My son was using both hands to try to open his which the game says is 'improper' since it's all about pencil holding and scissor cutting form. Will return. 2
