Customer Reviews

Yet to find an application where these work Alignment of the two sides of the tool is poor, and yet to actually find a hose and fitting where these work. In the rare case they fit, handles start to flex if the hose is really stuck. Still just use picks and/or knipex cobras to actually remove a stuck hose that can't just be done by hand. Idea behind these is good, but doesn't work well in practice. 2These pliers can make your day a lot less bad I bought these because they seemed like they might make disconnecting small hoses just a little bit easier without breaking them. They have exceeded my expectations by far. I have used them to get much larger connections apart than I expected them to work on. As long as the sharp part of the tube side fork will engage, they will help; You might have to help them in certain circumstances, but they will help. I have watched other technicians struggle with A/C and power steering hoses to no end with picks, pliers, prybars, - you name it. When I've offered a hand with these in my hand, I've been given funny looks, even scoffed at. That is, until I put these guys on there, squeeze, and give'er a pull and that hose that was ruining their day pops off with a combination of a little elbow grease and this ingenious tool (don't forget to use some silicone lubricant in an aerosol can for, of course). If you're on the edge, just buy them! 5An IT'L DO economy tool I bought this for one job to work on a dishwasher hose. You would not need if you pulled the dishwasher out from the cabinet, but with dishwasher in place I could not remove hose without tool due to tight space. Tool looks misaligned but it may be made that way. Summary I could not remove a hose in 45 minutes, got the hose remover pliers and remove hose in 15 seconds. The pliers could use a lot more quality but they were good enough to do the job. If you are going to need often, buy a better quality tool. This is an occasional use tool. 4Made in the USA. Makes hose removal a breeze. I have always removed small hoses from the tube/pipe that they were connected to, by getting a pair of pliers and prying or twisting them off, which sometimes led to me breaking plastic parts, or tearing up the hose and having to replace it. Well this little tool is magical, it just pushes the hose right off. Just look at directions first, otherwise you will be like me, assuming that you know how it works and trying to figure out what's wrong with it. It is made here in the USA which is a must for me, I refuse to buy outsources stuff. I used it to remove the hoses from my transmission, the rubber hoses that connect to the cooler lines, it worked like a charm. It's one of those tools that you may not use all that often, but when you need it, you'll be glad that it's in your tool box. 5Heavy helpful tool. This is NOT a flimsy tool. The two halves are different colors and are labeled so you know which side goes on the tube and which goes on the hose. That matters because the tube side is sharpened to grip the metal of the tube. Good strong spring. Has directions. IT WORKS so well it will make you smile. It works on small tubes and up to about 3/4 inch. Follow the directions. If you can get to the tubes and apply the tool properly it will work. Make in USA! Glad I got it. 5Useful pliers, in certain situations I bought these to remove fuel lines from filter housings on outboard boat engines. If you have the space, these work really well, and don't damage the rubber of the line, or the fittings. However, you need a solid inch of clearance behind the fuel fitting if you need to use the smallest part of the piers (the plier's opening narrows as it gets closer to the handles). There are plenty of times when there simply isn't the clearance needed to use these pliers. The construction is decent, not Snap-On quality, but you aren't paying S-O pricing either. 4Chintzy and Inadequate. I bought these pliers to take off the fuel lines on a fuel filter. They lack the grip necessary to do the job and damaged the hose in the process. In the end I just used my hands on the impossibly tough lines and got a tiny flat-edge screwdriver underneath the lip of the hose to break the seal. I threw these in my toolbox but its unlikely I'll use them again. 1Great tool, when it can be used Very cool tool when you have the opportunity to use it. When you're able to get this tool properly in place you can just squeeze the handle and forcibly press the hose right off the pipe, eliminating the need to poke and pry with a pick and try to break the seal and use all your brute strength to yank it off. That being said, don't buy this thinking that you can now remove every hose on your car or wherever. It only is of use when there is some clearance between the end of the hose and the mating surface, so you can slip this in to push back on the hose. You also need to be able to get the right angle and have enough room to maneuver. Also, the hose diameter can't be too big. So definitely not a "cure-all," but if you're the type of guy (like me) that likes to have several potentially useful tools at his disposal to approach a given task you will find it useful. 4It's OK, But Needs Improvement This tool replaced it's copy from Harbor Freight which I finally got frustrated with. My complaint is the same as others in that the thickness of the jaws hinders getting between the hose and tube especially on small hoses pushed up tight. The jaws come together better than the HF version. This version also has a sharpened jaw (black side) said to grip the metal tube side so there is an orientation needed for better operation.I can use this for some hoses and applications, but as usual need to apply different methods depending on the access and hose size. 3Sloppy tolerances The premise is great and for $10 I didn't know what to expect but it wasn't high even though it is USA made. Hoses aren't super precision deals but I expected that the jaws would close flat. Sadly, the ones I received do not close fully and there is a 1/8" gap so this adds additional clearance issues when dealing with some hose junctions. That was fixed by bending the jaws so that it can sit a bit better. The other is the handles have a hard edge that feels sharp. Not enough to cut but more reminiscent of cheap stamped stuff from a country that starts with "Ch".In all, bending the jaws then grinding the handle to break the hard edge made these easier to use. Since it already has had the grinder to it, I'll likely taper and angle the jaws so that they aren't as thick. This should allow them to reach into slightly more confined spaces...hopefully.They work as necessary but on small hoses, which I originally bought them for the tool is a bit cumbersome in certain areas. Cutting the hose off is an easier approach. I'd have returned it but for $10 and the mods to make them more useful, the return option is gone. This was a 50-50 purchase, I could have done without. 3
