Not heat resistantReceived this two-pack and they are thin. I wasn't sure they would keep my hands from burning so I used an extra pad when I held the handle. Then, with the first use, the edge of the holder burned and flaked off in burnt pieces, even though it was never directly over the burner.1Quality has gone down. Discolors pansI purchased the striped holders about 2 years ago, and they held up pretty well and served their purpose. After that long though, they suffered heat damage and I figured I'd get new ones. I order the red pepper design this time around. Quality is no where close to what it once was. The loop for hanging tore off, stitching was loose. Worst part is, it turned my handles a silver color from whatever they are using on the inside coating.1NOT real Lodge productI have bought Lodge hot handles before. These were much thinner and did not come with the Lodge logo making me suspect they are imposters. I got burned the first time using them due to the thinness of the material. Incredibly disappointed. with this useless product.1Easy to use My old hot handle holder wore out and so I needed to replace it. I ordered the Lodge 2HHMC2 hot handle holder and am very happy with it - goes on the handle easily, stays on and seems durable. I have not yet cleaned the hot handle holder so I cannot properly rate it. This is why I just assigned 3 starts (a neutral rating). I would recommend others purchase these hot handle holders. There actually were 2 handle holders in the package so I now have a spare. 5ImpressedI love cooking with Cast Iron Pans, but I don't love how hot the handles get, so when I found out that such a thing exists, I was very happy to purchase these and no longer use a kitchen towel wrapped around the handle. I liked the design which are the ones that look like a red handkerchief. Upon arrival, I opened up the box and tried them out. I took out my favorite cast iron pan, an old Wagner size 8a (Circa 1897-1903) and slid this little gem on the handle. Seemed to work fairly well, at least it fit anyway. So next came the real test, and I decided to cook. To my delight, my pan and the handle may have heated up, but my little Handle Holder made holding onto the pan very easy. They have the feel of older hot pads, the kind that many of us had during our childhood. At no point, was the handle too hot for the Handle Holder. No more wrapping a towel around the handle when I cook. I am very happy with these and very glad I purchased them.5Great pot handle holdersI really like these little pot handle holders for my cast iron pans. They fit well and really protect your hands from the heat! Really cute design!5Set on fireBoth of these pan holders have set on fire during use, with only moderate heat. I would have expected these to be made of fire-resistant material. I dont know if it was somehow 'user error' on my end, but if they both set on fire for me, they can set on fire for someone else too.1More Decorative than FunctionalLodge, if you're reading this... these are mighty thin for iron handles. I use them only at the table 'cause they look so nice, to protect anyone that might want to grab a little skillet... that's not to say you can take it from the kitchen to the dining room with this decorative but barely functional pot holder. I use a "real" pot holder for that, then slide this on to the skillet handle, keeps from getting hands burned, but it is mighty uncomfortable to try and carry a heavy iron skillet for more than 10 seconds.3Disappointing drop in qualityI've bought these in the past for cast iron skillets and this is the first set that were different. They are thinner than they used to be and just plain too thin for holding the pan without burning my hands. Lodge, if you're reading this please restore these back to the original materials and manufacturing process! These are decorative but not useful, in fact they border on dangerous since somebody might drop a skillet when the heat comes right through the fabric.1Good little pot holder that work way better than the extremely dangerous silicone crap they also sellGood little pot holder that work way better than the extremely dangerous silicone crap they also sell. (See my other reviews) One star off because they don't actually come with the silver heat resistant material pictured in the advertisement. If used properly this really doesn't matter that much. Oh, and don't be a dough-head and leave these on the pan while the heat is railing away like some other reviewers did. Would you leave your oven mitt attached to a pan on the stove or the oven...NO! If you leave ANY material too close to a flame for too long, of course, it's gong to catch fire...DUH!4... for quite some time and they're looking a little worse for wear but are still keeping my hand free ...I've been using these for quite some time and they're looking a little worse for wear but are still keeping my hand free from burns. The only pans I use are cast iron and I don't know what I'd do without these handle holders, makes things so much easier. I bought a set of them for my dad for Christmas and he's also loving them. Just make sure you don't place it too close to an open flame or put in the oven, that's not what they're meant for.5These are so much easier than those silicon handle covers! I most liked the paisley-like red handkerchief/bandana pattern of these hot handle holders, they work well for safely handling a hot cast iron skillet handle, minimal to zero heat transfers to your hand. No fuss, just slips right over the handle and if you slob anything on it just toss it in the laundry and grab the second one. 5
