Customer Reviews

Does just what I wanted it to.I bought this as a nightlight for my daughter's room, as red is supposed to be the least disruptive to sleep. Gives off a good amount of light for the baby's room, as I do need to see her in the middle of the night if she wakes up. The only issue I'd say I had with it was that it doesn't turn off automatically unless the light in the room is fairly bright. Natural light seems to make it turn off better than a standard ceiling light.5ExcellentI've been using this for five months now. I purchased this pair of red LED lights along with two pairs of similar lights also found on Amazon. After testing them all out, this is the model I chose to use for the most important locations (to me). It's perfect for our en suite on the red setting. I placed it far enough (78") from the door to provide a glow through the doorway without intruding on my sleep. It's bright enough to see well during late night bathroom runs and doesn't hurt my night vision or cause me to awaken as the bright overhead lights would. If I need to see color better, I can switch it to white light, which is plenty for a small area. The daylight sensor works very well, even through a textured glass window. The design leaves the second outlet free for use. It's not significantly better than the others, but this is the one I'd recommend. I'm not sure why you'd use a blue light, but it's an option.5Red light works very wellI bought these specifically because they offered red light (which is excellent for keeping your night vision). I would have preferred they design this night light with a switch to offer bright red light and dim red light (rather than wasting LEDs and a position on the switch for blue). I have no idea why anyone would use blue (other than perhaps it looks cool). It absolutely wrecks your night vision, so it makes for a lousy color of night light if you want to go back to sleep. Attached is a picture that shows the color of the red in this light with the amber color of the Maxxima MLN-50A Amber LED Night Light With Sensor. Also attached is a picture of the white and blue colors of this model night light.4Great light for the priceAuto sensor for on off operation larger than normal switch to change from Red, white, or blue. It can take up other outlets if the light is positioned to cover them other wise it will leave other outlets open and able to be used. And you get two of them. In the pictures are the light output for each of the three colors.5Essential for new parentsWe bought two packs of these night lights before our kid was born in preparation for the sleepless nights to come. 7 months after the arrival of our little bundle of joy, and I can state with certainty that these live up to the high reviews. The daylight sensors are more essential than I had previously realized (what new parent has the patience or even the memory to plug in or turn on/off their night lights?) and what I previously thought were odd colors (blue and red) actually cast a soothing glow when I'm zombie-walking down our hallway for the 23rd time in the night.5Red wavelength better for falling back asleep?Have a houseful of people who have to use the restroom once a night so night lights in hall and bathroom a must. Replaced blue night lights with this circadian rhythm friendly set of red ones. When you are fully dark adapted, they are quite bright enough for a large space. Too bright? Easy to adjust by wrapping black electrical tape around the lowest part of the plastic "lens". This dims the light and also shoots it up toward the ceiling for a softer glow. You could also use spray paint on the lens if you want. Happy with purchase.5Never thought I'd get so excited about a night light!I wish I'd bought these sooner! I'd recommend this red nightlight for anyone who has Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. It's so crucial to avoid bright/blue light before bedtime, and I found it hard to do my nighttime routine with my "low blue light" glasses on to keep the bathroom light from telling my brain it is time to be awake. These are the perfect solution. The red light provides enough illumination that I can brush my teeth and wash my face without worrying about the light messing with my circadian rhythm.I put the second nightlight in the kitchen, and its bright white light is great to keep me from tripping over things in the middle of the night. The light sensor works just as it should, so these aren't on all day. I'm very happy with this product.5Five stars if a brightness adjustment were added. Very high-quality red & white light emitted.I bought these primarily for the red light, to replace the older greenish-blue LED nightlights we had. I am a very light sleeper and am trying to use redder lights in our home before bed and during the night to help prevent interfering with the sleep cycles of my wife and I.In addition to these new red LED nightlights from Maxxima, we are also using the Iris Pro app for our laptops, set to 3400K color temperature 24/7, and the Twilight app on our phones. These combined changes (of removing blue light and increasing red light) help us sleep better, and they have also had the pleasant surprise of eliminating nearly all of the headaches we both used to get from glare and eye strain. The red setting of these particular Maxxima nightlights emits a pleasant red glow. The quality of these nightlights is good, better than virtually all others I have seen. That said, I very much wish that Maxxima would produce a model with a trimmer (i.e. a variable resistor), so that the brightness could be reduced when desired. Don't get me wrong, these particular Maxxima nightlights seem less bright than most other nightlights, which to my wife and I, is a good thing. However, if we could adjust the brightness, then I would consider rating these at 5 stars instead of 4.While I purchased these primarily for the red light, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the white LED setting gives off a very pleasant, comfortable, high-quality glow. Like that of high-quality, 2700K color temperature, art-gallery-grade interior lighting. Really, I am very impressed. The white LED setting has no blue tinge whatsoever, nor is it the harsh white that most "white" LED lights give off.Overall, I recommend this model of Maxxima nightlight over all other nightlight models I have seen or owned. I don't recommend using the blue setting, but the red and white settings produce the highest-quality color temperatures I have seen put out from a night light. And the light is less bright than most other nightlights, which is a good thing. However, my wife and I would both like to be able to reduce the brightness even further. If Maxxima were to produce a model very similar to this but also containing a brightness adjustor, then that would be a near-perfect nightlight.4This is the nightlight I should have bought firstI love the choice of colors. Red is the universal "doesn't ruin night vision" color, and when kept on in the master bath (about 10 feet from our bed), it doesn't shine through our closed eyes which would ruin what should be a dark room for sleeping. But, when getting up in the middle of the night, it's a very useful beacon to the bathroom without requiring adjustment to the light level. When I need a little extra light without turning on the bright overhead lights, switching this to the white setting gives me all the light I need to fumble around for something I dropped. I haven't used the blue setting, but great if you like blue.5Nice, but not for me....For my application I am rating the product only 3 stars. I found them too bright. However, all the functions on both units were working as advertised. The units are also too large to my liking, but again, they do work as advertised. Wish I could find a small, not so bright, red LED night light.3
