Customer Reviews

You get what you pay for! This costs more than the type you will find in the big box stores, but this thing is built to last. My side garage door was deteriorating from water damage and I did want to replace the door. I used a 2x4 and mallet to force this on the bottom of my door and it pulled the deteriorating warped door back in shape. It looks great on the door too. I did have to trim it with a sawzall so don't plan on using a cheap hacksaw.5Great to fill a large gap below door and threshold I had to repair a old glass and wood kitchen door that had a 1.5" gap between the bottom of the door and the top of the threshold. Raising the threshold would have caused a tripping issue. Since the door was old but in good shape, this door bottom saved me from having to remove door and glue a strip of wood onto bottom. With all the filling, sanding and painting needed to make it look like one piece of wood. Plus I would still need to supply a sweep. I cut it by hand with a hack saw. And since the floor/threshold was not even I was able to set the door bottom on a slight angle to make an even seal. Someone must have a bad day in shipping. They sent the door bottom in a huge box that could easily have held 25 of these door bottoms. 5Came Without ScrewsAs usual, Amazon delivery was excellent. Arrived on Sunday as promised. The door bottom is also "deep" enough to cover a substantial gap under the door. Unfortunately, the product arrived without the screws needed to install it. They are pictured with the item for sale, and the instructions tell you to install with the "enclosed screws." I was in a hurry, so had to go out to a local store to buy self-tapping screws... 12 of them for about $1 each. Pretty well ruined any savings to be had from buying on Amazon. Lastly, the door bottom is a true 36" wide, so purchasers with a nominal 36" door opening will find they need to trim nearly 1/2" with a hack saw, or it will extend past the edge of the door and prevent it from closing.1Great solution for damaged door!We were able to save an old wooden door with some damage along the bottom edge with this ingenious device. My amazing hubby cut the damage off, slid is bad boy on and voila...The door is better than new AND the add-on is that this serves as a mini kick-plate so I won't have to paint quite as often. WOOHOO!5Great to reinforce doorNeeded something to reinforce the bottom of my basement door after the wood rotted out and the metal began to become frail and flakey. I replaced the wood then added this and the door is good as new. Water tight! Here are a few observations...Cutting to Size: The Aluminum is very easy to cut with hack saw and weatherstripping easy to cut with a utility knife.Installing: Very easy. I Slipped the aluminum over marked the holes, removed it and pre drilled the holes before finally screwing it in place. Very painless process even if you have the most basic skills.Calking Tip: Once installed seal the top of the Aluminum with silicon calking to prevent water from dripping down behind it and into the door. Also put some over the screws as well as they are always the first to rust. For the weather stripping, it was moving slightly so I put a dab on each end to keep it in place but not making it hard to remove if I should ever have to replace it.Would recommend!4Worked great on an old door on my Sears, Roebuck & Co., Honor Bilt Modern Home.I have a Sears kit home, in Cape Charles, VA, that was built in the 1920's. One of the entry doors had a gap at the bottom that went from 1/4" to almost a full inch. After finding a 6' snake skin in my basement, I figured it was time to do something about it. I installed this weather stripping on the bottom on my door, and so far, no more snake skins! This weather stripping is heavy gauge aluminum and is well made. It was easy to install and does a great job keeping out the weather,....and snakes. You will need a good hacksaw or electric saw to cut it. A small file to clean the edges after you cut it will be helpful also.5Look no further, this is what you wantI cant say enough good things about this, thought it would be thin aluminum sheet metal type product but wow this stuff is thick and hard as hell to cut for re-sizing (I didn't have proper cutting tools). Premium weatherstrip included too, thought that would be a flimsy piece of felt or cheapy rubber but it's awesome.5Missing Parts, scratchedIt's very heavy duty and I'm sure it would be perfect for what I need to fix with but it didn't come with the rubber flange or any screws. Also has large noticeable scratches. See attached photos for everything I received (aluminum door kick, instalation instructions, plastic wrapping) as well as the scratches. Its not worth returning such a large item for a refund since I'll loose the shipping cost. I'll have to buy the flange and screws separately. I'm Very disappointed.1The bottom edges of the repaired door were rusted and not making a good seal against the frame weather-strippingThis perfectly repaired a rusted out bottom pool door in my house. The bottom edges of the repaired door were rusted and not making a good seal against the frame weather-stripping, letting in light and air as the door is 30 years old and an exterior door. This is easily cut with a hacksaw, and was tapped into place very easily with a rubber mallet. I was going to see about replacing the door but due to the unique size, it was going to be quite costly since it would be a custom job. The door also became much more rigid with this in place. Excellent repair product, just make sure you use some silicon caulking around the edges and screw holes so no water gets in between this and your door.5The perfect door bottom. Simple and well made. This is a great door bottom. I used it on a 32" door cutting it down to size with an abrasive chop saw. It's thick enough so it made a nice cut. It slid over a door which had some bottom damage which I didn't want to replace. Now it looks like new and fits perfect with the replacement sill I installed.5This works well for door that is too short Worked great on a replacement outer door that was an inch and a half too short for the doorway. Half the screws were missing so minus one star. Used a strip of wood to fill the gap. 4Solid u channel door sweepSawed to remove 1/2" with a cheap saber saw with little trouble.Sliding the rubber bottom in the track took a bit of finesse and care, but it is easily cut and works well & seats solidly.Very sturdy piece and door securely meets on bottom to repel water and pests from my 1" gap. The screws haven't been placed just yet, but for now, at least, I have no gaping opening and am well satisfied with the fit, placing and security of this piece.Field nice were waltzing right in. After glue trapping 2 of the stinkers, I set the door channel up and no more company.5
