Quite pleased
I am pleasantly pleased with this funnel. I wanted a stainless steel funnel to replace my plastic one. I want to get away from using plastic. When I saw this funnel with the strainer I thought "what a novel idea". I've used it to strain grease twice already and it did a very acceptable job. But if you want this to strain small particles of breading or flour sediment this won't do that. However, if you have sizeable gunk, this does a good job and the strainer is removeable. It's big and it even has a handle. And the best part, it's stainles steel so you can put it in the dishwasher.
4A Beautiful Funnel
This funnel is well built and beautifully shaped. A shiny 18/8 Stainless Steel beats any plastic poisonous ones. I have already used it and it's great. The only drawback is the detachable strainer handle: the knob is flat and shorts and a pain to pull. Also if you notice in the photos some show a cylindrical knob and not a flat one...
5Very convenient for saving frying oils
This is great for pouring off and screening oil that I use in my deep fryers. It can clog but when it does I just clean it out and start over. It make saving oil much more convenient that using cheese cloth as a filter and cheaper in the long run.
5Great multi-purpose funnel
I was looking for a funnel with a sieve for when I fry foods; I like to reserve the oil for use in the future. The funnel works pretty good but doesn't get out really small particles from the oil. Honestly didn't expect it to from other reviews; it works for what I am trying to do since I only reuse oil a couple of times and always refrigerate it in between uses. I find I am using it for different purposes than I originally bought it for like adding the food to hummingbird feeders, removing the sieve and just transferring liquids, etc. Great size and very versatile for any kitchen.
5Funnel/Screener for deep fryer oil
This funnel/strainer is quite useful. My main use is straining deep fry oil for reuse. Upon using it for the first time it immediately got jammed up with large particles. I simply pulled the screener up just a little and then the oil flowed nicely while letting only very small particles through. I think this is the best solution for my needs and will still allow me to screen most of the bigger particles. I would recommend this product.

Love this item. I use it to make quick work of cleaning my deep fryer.It works well when you're filtering oil that you will use again (I wrap the filter with cheese cloth to ensure it keeps the small bits, etc out) and also makes cleaning oil that you're going to toss super easy by allowing you to remove the filter. Can't beat it.
5Norpro makes good stuff
I brew my grommet iced tea in large batches. I wanted this funnel to hold coffee filters so I could remove tea fines and oil resulting from the brewing process. I wanted a strainer funnel to support the filter paper....but...What the product photo does not show you is the spike in the center of the strainer which is used to remove the strainer, but would rip a hole in my filter paper. I bent the spike over and it no longer presents a problem. Norpro makes a good quality product and I never hesitate to order their equipment.
5Great basic funnel for the price
After lots of careful consideration (I.e. browsing random stuff on Amazon for hours), I purchased this funnel specifically for filtering my homemade limoncello and arancello. Another reviewer stated that they had used it with #2 sized coffee filters, and I thought that would be perfect for my needs. So I ordered both the funnel and filters, along with a ton of other awesome stuff I probably don't need, and it all arrived two days later. Yay Amazon Prime.The nitty gritty about the funnel: it's sturdy, well made, and the strainer stays securely in place. It looks exactly like the picture, and does not feel flimsy or chintzy at all. It's easy to clean, and seats well in all of my awesome canning jars. Even the smaller, half-liter size. Definitely worth the $10 price tag.Now for the warning to those who wish to use this funnel along with coffee filters to make delightful homemade infusions: I decided to test out my funnel + coffee filter apparatus before attempting to filter all three liters of extracted goodness, wanting to optimize the process and not waste a drop of my precious liquid sunshine. This was a fortunate decision on my part, as I decided to begin with filtering delicious, bacon-infused bourbon. I then proceeded to dump nearly the entire half liter all over my countertops. The compatibility of the funnel with #2 sized cone filters is a dirty, dirty lie! I had to hold the filters during the entire filtering process; if I let go, the filter would tip over, spilling the entire (unfiltered!) contents down the funnel or on the counter, and I had to start all over again. NOT good.Finally, I finished filtering the bacon-infused bourbon, but vowed to find a better way. Since I don't own a coffee maker that requires filters, I had no clue where to start. So I scoured Amazon (I.e. browsed even more random stuff) for other filters and compared dimensions. I finally settled on the basket-style Melitta filters, and ended up buying both the junior 4-6 cup size, as well as the regular 8-12 cup size at Target. (What can I say? I'm impatient. Plus they were like $1.50 for 200.)After trying multiple configurations, the way that worked best for me was to have the strainer in place, with two regular 8-12 cup size coffee filters on top. I was originally worried that the pull tab for the strainer would pierce the filters, but they were very sturdy and I didn't have any issues with perforation. When I finally ended up filtering my limoncello and arancello, I was pretty much a pro at the whole filtering thing, the process took much less time than I anticipated. I can't wait to make more delicious booze!For those of you with Amazon Review ADD, the CliffsNotes version: Funnel is awesome. Buy it. To finely filter stuff, use regular-sized, basket-style Melitta coffee filters with it. Leave the strainer in place. Yes, even with the pull tab sticking up. No, it won't pierce the filters. Yes, I promise. Use 2 filters nested together. Replace with 2 more when they get clogged up. Repeat until you're happy with the result. Thank me for the great advice. Send me samples of your delicious, nicely filtered booze.
5High Quality
Very sturdy, large and being made out of stainless steel, no staining. The stem is a little difficult to clean. I push a piece of wet paper towel with soap through the stem with a skewer.

This funnel makes draining,and cleaning my butterball indoor turkey fryer a piece of cake .It is simple to use,and clean up is a breeze.I highly recommend one of these for maintaining your fryers.You will not regret it.
