    Beautiful teapot, but read the cleaning instructionsBeautiful right out of the box. This was my mother's day gift from my daughter and I love it. The removable tea screen is the perfect size. It makes 1 or 2 cups of tea depending on the size of your cup. Keeps the tea warm for a little while since it is cast iron.I only have one complaint; cleaning can be tricky because it is black and the inside is coated. Be sure to follow the manufacturers cleaning and usage instructions in the booklet provided. I found my booklet inside the teapot. 5Japanese tea never tasted better...This pot is great if you ask me. Keeps tea hot Just the right amount of time. I love the sage color. Read the instruction about cleaning and heating water for the tea so you do not damage the pot lining..... 5Follow the directions for useWe use this for humidification in winter. If you make tea in it, don't use it for this purpose. Don't boil water in it if you make tea with it, use it as a proper tea pot and pour boiling water into it. If you use it for humidification, the coating on the inside may flake off. As the instructions say, you can prevent rusting by putting used tea leaves in it and filling with boiling water. Once cooled, discard old tea leaves and water, rinse, and it's ready for more use. 4Not wood stove capableDescription is very confusing, states that it can be used on a wood stove...but the directions state not to boil water in it. It will boil on a wood burning stove therefore usless. 1Teapot has defectsWhile I adored the look of this teapot, it broke after first-time use (after 5 days). There are breaks or on both sides of the spout, though on one side, the break is extensive, and the other side has a tiny break, barely noticeable. I had started using it on the stove, but after about one minute or less I realized that this pot cannot be heated on the stove. Before choosing this pot, I had looked at many teapots, some of which can be used on a stove. So Imixed up my pot with others. But at least I remembered almost immediately my mistake.As has been mentioned, the lid is very loose, dangerously so. As well, as someone else has mentioned, I see black specks on the bottom of my cup. I wanted to love this tea-pot, but not one with these defects. I regretfully need to return this pot. 2It holds 32 fluid ounces which is great for usWe got this teapot to fill with water and place on top of our wood stove to add moisture to the air. When you burn a wood stove it can make the air really dry so we really needed this to help add moisture. It holds 32 fluid ounces which is great for us. The handle gets hot but I expected that considering what we are using it for. We do not use it for drinking water and it looks like there is some crystallization on the inside. Again this could be because of what we are using it for. It does not effect us or stop us from using it. This teapot does what we need and holds a good amount of water so we are not refilling it constantly. It also looks so great, everyone asks us about it and where we got it from. We love this product. 5Very nice tea pot, plus, helps you "Pump Up"Ever thought to yourself - "gosh, wouldn't it be awesome to drink tea AND work out at the same time"? well folks, here is your answer!The pot holds around 5 mugs of tea, so probably 8 dainty cups if that's your thing - but this teapot isn't for dainty people. No sir, this teapot laughs in the face of those flowery china cups and scoffs at the lace doily they're sitting on. If Caterpillar or John Deere made a teapot, this would be it. Its well constructed, cast iron exterior with a ceramic coating on the inside. Options? well...lets face it folks, its a teapot - still, it pours very well (cant say that about every teapot I've used) and comes with a basket to hold the tea leaves. It also has a lid and a handle, both useful in a teapot, and a spout - that about covers options.SO - what is it like to use? Well for one, it holds enough liquid to make it worth using - I like big mugs of tea, and I like to drink more than one, and this baby serves up 5. It does a decent job of keeping the tea warm and its easy to clean. Downsides? Well - you need to get picky to find some, but:1) The lid could fit better - it won't fall off (unless you're swinging the pot around - which is flat out dangerous, see point 2) but it has some movement side to side and isn't exactly a tight fit - hasn't caused any issues, but figured its worth mentioning.2) This thing is heavy - seriously, and add 5 mugs of water and pretty soon your fore-arm is getting a work out. Now most of these types of teapots will have some heft to them - they are cast iron, but its still heavier than I anticipated. So if you're thinking about buying gran-ma a nice teapot, best hope gran-ma is keeping up with her workout routine - probably also what to make sure her table is rated to hold a metric ton.All in all - awesome teapot, love using it. 4Waste of moneyAfter the first time of my wife cleaning this product it immediately rusted, had to throw it away. 1Lid slides around making a horrible clanking noiseWhile absolutely beautiful, there are a number of issues with the lid: ONE, it is not a sold cast. The lid handle is screwed in and was loose when I unpacked it. MORE importantly, the lid does not fit snugly on the pot and slides around making a terrible clanking noise. I'm afraid it will eventually damage the enamel lining. If hot water ever sloshes out, I can foresee a horrible burn due to faulty manufacturing/design. If that ever happens I'll be sure to update this review. 3Use a smaller infuser for more functionalityNice large cast iron tea pot.I found the built in infuser fit the product just right but for me personally required I use more tea than needed for my self when making tea because the infuser did not touch the bottom.I had another infuser on hand I found fit through its giant opening to rest on the bottom.I like it a lot more since discovering this because now I can fill it half way and ensure my tea brews fully just for my self despite the pot being a size suitable for parties as well. 3
