Customer Reviews

NOT a Pilot/Dr GripNot a refillable Pilot/Dr Grip but a cheap knockoff. Dr Grip gel ink refills are much longer than the ones this one takes and you cannot just cut one down. Did not even come on a card identifying it as a Pilot/Dr Grip. 1New Love!I got this to Bujo but now I use these pens for everything and have converted half the staff in the office. I hate writing with pencil but I also am human and make mistakes. This is unlike the erasable pens of my youth, the color is bold, the ink is smooth, and it erases easily with the pens nib not with everything that touches it. Also refillable which is a plus for the environment! 100% Love 53.5 stars, differences between "Full Black" vs "Center of Gravity"I've owned the Dr. Grip Center of Gravity for quite some time (over 10 years, I misplaced my first one, so I bought it again recently), then I stumbled upon the "Full Black" version and saw that it looked essentially the same on the picture but cost about $1 less, I thought it was probably just a color theme difference and everything would essentially be the same, I was wrong. In short, material wise, it is a cheaper/more economical version of the Dr. Grip Center of Gravity. The design is pretty much exactly the same, however there are more plastic parts to the pen on the Full Black version compared to the Center of Gravity version. For example, the clicker button up top is made of hollow plastic on the Full Black, whereas on the CoG version it is polished stainless steel (I've read some reviews where people managed to cracked and break the plastic button cap). Another part that is plastic on the Full Black is the pen barrel that screws on to the base, it is fully plastic with metal lining inside, which could potentially be a weak point since the center that comes apart via twisting a screw is all plastic. Also I can't verify this, but I question the "rubber" grip as well, on the CoG version, it feels like silicone-which is very durable, whereas on the Full Black, for all I know it could be natural rubber or lower grade vinyl which will wear out faster(again, I can't verify this, but it does feel different).I hope what I wrote made sense, essentially it is a cheaper version/less sturdier version, it works, it's also noticeably lighter than the CoG version. My take is.. since the design and ergonomics are carried over from the Center of Gravity pen, you still get a similar writing experience, the comfort is still there...however, for one dollar more you get a stainless steel clicker cap, and a full steel barrel that is threaded and screws on to the base, makes it much more durable... potentially the plastic cap could break/shatter or the the pen could snap in half since the joint is all plastic on the Full Black version. In my opinion, since the price difference is almost negligible, just get the Center of Gravity version; more robust, more durable parts, peace of mind that it'll last longer. (If the Full Black version was half the price, then I'd argue otherwise, there's a use for each pen)Hope this review helps if anyone else out there was wondering like me between the differences of the two. 3Great pen. All of my DrGreat pen. All of my Dr. Grip's are great. I love the pen. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the clip. Considering that this pen is marketed for its "FullBlack" aesthetics, I thought that the prominent, shiny, silver clip was out of place with an otherwise very matte black pen. Obviously not a functional flaw in anyway, but like i said, a big part of this particular pen is the aesthetic. 4No one else is ever allowed to touch this one...it's mine!!!I am a nurse. As any nurse will tell you, we get pretty possessive about our pens, once we find a pen we like. It becomes very difficult to share if someone wants to borrow it for ny reason. This is that pen for me. I love the flow of the ink and the fit in my hand 5You cant beat this penThis is my 2nd Pilot Full Black pen (thought i lost my 1st one only to find it in my child's pencil box for school as she said it was "her favorite pen") and i couldnt be happier with my purchase. My 1st one is the bordeaux accent in a 0.7mm. This one is a 1.0mm and i thought the ink flow would be too wide for my liking, but its not! On my first pen, i've had it for about 8 years now and i am only on my 2nd ink refill, which is amazing as i have worked in the mortgage industry and other clerical type jobs where we go through a lot of ink pens but this one holds up. Im hoping that the 1.0mm will last just as long. The pen feels comfortable in the hands (Dr.Grip style cushion) and is light weight, but dont think "cheap" for light weight, because its not. You can get 2 pens right now for the price i paid for 1 pen, so you def cannot beat that. Make sure to grab some ink refills as they have a coupon as well right now. 5Expensive but well worth itDr. Grips are my favorite pens. The ball-point rolls effortlessly across the page, and the ink fills in solidly. Compared with cheaper pens, I find I don't have to push as hard, and writing overall becomes significantly less tiring. I write with my pen everyday and I never leave home without one of these. The pen feels right in the hand. It is weighted well, just heavy enough to sit well. The material is high quality. The grip is rubbery and you won't find it slipping off your fingers. It's expensive, but in my opinion, well worth the price. 5Great pen!I am very particular about my tools, pens being one of them. I have been using this style of the Dr Grip pens for several years, and they are the best pens. The standard refill/insert has a larger point than I like (Medium) and originality I was ordering the Fine point refills from Japan, but luckily I found a Japanese stationary store not too far from home that carries them! 5not as expectedI expected a thicker line of ink- its a bit too fine for me. I was mostly interested in the grip comfort level and I love that this pen is all black. The ink flows smooth and dries quickly. The biggest drawback is the point where the grip meets the top portion of the pen. This is a screw area to add new ink. It is ALWAYS coming slightly enough unscrewed that it becomes hard to control while writing. I think maybe the grip material is too big. So constantly have to pause writing and re-tighten it. It is ok- not the most slick looking pen. Reminds me of my uniball signo - just a typical looking retractable gel pen. I recently bought a TUL at Staples for $1 just to check it out- its amazing. The thickness of the link and the way the ink flows I don't have to slow down for the ink to catch up. It's skinny, retractable with a top click button. It's is the black one out of the Limited edition colors. If the brand can be removed it would be pretty slick 3Better than the regular Dr. Grip penOnce Papermate discontinued the PHD pen, I have been looking for an ergometric pen that feels comfortable and has good balance in one's writing hand and this Full Black Dr. Grip pen is just what I was looking for. I have stockpiled at least a half dozen of these just in case Dr. Grip might discontinue this pen. 5
