Terrible cheap hose...spend the extra for the better version You get what you pay for. I like spring hoses - since those "expandable" ones always seem to explode at some point, and I have another that I paid almost $50 for. Thought, "Well, this is a secondary hose so don't really need to spend that much." For the marginal additional cost, I should have just sucked it up.The name should be a big clue..."Plastair"...this hose is very cheap plastic. Not vinyl or similar. And the attachments are seriously the cheapest light-weight metal (aluminum, maybe), not even the semi cheap "brass" of other hoses. Leaks around both ends of the fittings.If you intend to use this more than a few times for a short period, just spend the extra money for the higher quality version. 1For the right person, this is the right hose. This item is for people who don't either have room for a traditional hose or get tired of coiling a traditional hose. So its not for everyone. The down side is that after awhile it doesn't recoil consistently so one will have sections coiled in the wrong direction. This won't cause problems for the most part. Depending on use you may have to sit down and spend 10-15 minutes correcting the coils about once a year. So if you do so it'll be fine. If you don't, then within a few years it will develop kinks that actually cause a crease in the hose and cut off the water. This item is overall a good item, but don't expect longevity of more than 5 years if you are a daily user of it. It's pros do outweigh its cons. 5Plastair Springhose - great fun, but not very practical! Pros: Decent quality, hooks ups easily. Very lightweight, and storage is quick and simple.Cons: The fittings aren't the best, so I recommend using a bit of plumbers tape around the threads before attaching it, or if you're having trouble with leaks. Stated length is deceptive - only stretches to 12-15 feet.As others have stated, the coil doesn't allow you to stretch it the entire 25ft, so the usable length is only about half that. The further you stretch it the harder you have to work against the tension in the hose. Depending on the area you need to water and any obstacles you need to work around this may not be an issue. If you have arthritis or if you intend for a small child to be able to "help" with the watering, look elsewhere.I got this hose primarily because I thought it would make it easier for my 9-year-old to help in the garden (he's at the age where he still thinks chores are a novelty!). Unfortunately, he can only reach about half of our small garden using this hose. We've already had a couple of "accidents" ("Really, Mom, it was an accident!") where he gets tangled up or the coiling action pulls the hose right out his hands, leaving anyone nearby in danger of sudden drenching . . . On the other hand, he's certainly enjoying himself "helping" Mom in the garden!Warning: The "slinky" effect may be too much for certain users to resist. Of course, this is only an issue if you don't like having fun. 4Sometimes it's good to be happy with what you got Well I had this hose for just over 2 months and it's already got a crack in it! It's a stress crack and not a slit cause it has a small one next to the bigger one meaning it ripped apart and it was parallel with the length of the hose, not like I pulled so hard it tore it. I use it for the same purpose (watering plants around my camper and the occasional car and rv wash) as the other coil hose I got and that one has lasted years. The only reason I bought this one in place of the other was for the larger diameter. Looks like I'll be pulling the other one back out again. Really disappointed in product!! 1DO NOT BUY THIS HOSE HORRIBLE DESIGN. Do not buy this product. Major flaw on this item is where the rubber hose meets the faucet nozzle attachment, the connection just slips on. I didn't even have the water on and the rubber tubing just slipped right off. This happens on both ends of the hose. there is a little silver piece that dose nothing to keep the house on the attachment. I can't tell you if it's truly 50 feet, because each time I tried to uncoil the hose, it fell tight off the nozzle. I even tried to dribble a little water through the hose and it literally sent the hose flying off the spigot, with NO effort at all. 1Why did I wait so long to get one of these?! WOW. This hose beats the pants off every other hose I've ever used, All of the annoying troubles that accompany a normal garden hose have been solved with this little beauty! There are a couple of tricky things about the hose, but this is such a major improvement over standard hoses I gave it 5 stars anyhow. Heck, I'd give it 6.The best parts:- No hand-coiling the hose when you're done! Recoils on its own just like a spring- extremely light weight - the water in the hose will be the majority of the weight you're carrying around the yard- wraps easily around fence posts, corners, large flower pots, etc and won't bulldoze beds, plants like normal large hose- sturdy material for plastic hose, metal connectors- hooks up easily to attachments like sprayers and wands- easy to rinse off before storingThe caveats:- Recoils quickly if you should let go, so you may end up chasing it a few feet if you set it down.- Constant tension from the coil means your hands may fatigue; add another length of hose so you're not pulling so hard- smaller diameter of hose means slightly less water flow (and therefore pressure) than a standard garden hose so may not be best choice if power washer attachment is to be used 5It doesn't stretch out easily. Even though it says 50' it's best for a small area. It is sturdy and the connectors seem to be pretty good. I have a large balcony and thought it would be great to wash off since it stretched 50', but it pulls back because it is curled. I was unable to use it for 2 areas. I bought three and gave two away. I kept one for a small area by my garage. I had a flex hose before and I expected it to easily pull out. It's not bad quality, but the 50' is a little misleading. 3Beware of these hoses... their quality has decreased. UPDATE: THIS was my review about this product when I purchased these hoses in 2013 and again in 2015... each time they lasted 2-3 years, even having been left out in the PA winters.:** September 10, 2015: "I have purchased other coiled hoses in the past that sprung leaks very quickly. I ended up buying a second one of these because it is so strong and convenient. Anyone who complains about the tangling and takes stars away because of that should not be buying a coiled hose. There are definitely times it get itself tangled up but it is easy to avoid in most situations and easy to untangle if it happens." **Once my 2015 models reached their end early in 2018, I repurchased on April 20. The hose sprung a random leak the first week of June, right outside of my return widow. Assuming it was a freak occurrence, I ordered another on June 6. Today, July 8, THAT hose sprung a random LARGE hole in the middle of it... luckily on the last day of my return period. 1It * IS * 25 Feet But You Can't Extend The Coil That Far First of all... for the people who are saying this is not 25' long... they are wrong. I measured it myself. I don't think people understand that a 25' coil hose will not let you walk the end of it 25 feet away from where it's attached to the faucet. It's coiled. It will never stretch out so that it's in a straight line. When a typical coil house you can walk away about half as far as the length of the hose. 25' hose, you can comfortably stretch is 12.5 feet. With a 50' hose you can comfortably stretch is 25 feet. When I say comfortably I mean without pulling it hard which can cause the hose to rip/tear/leak. This hose is perfect for if you don't need to go further than a little over 10 feet from where it's attached to the faucet. It's perfect for watering the plants in the front of my home. 4good for small area, bad if u stretch There is a fundamental flaw as all who.use these know and it's annoying constant kinking.It occurs if you are sretching this to.its full lengthWith that said I.have 3 I use that cover small area and are.never fully stretched , these work fine and have for years.So if you use it and don't need to fully extended it it is a great but. Even if it lasts 2 years as mine has can you really complain for $8?If you want a high quality hose for long runs , that is thick and soft and 50 feet + buy a quality hose and pay the price. For those people who complained, what do you expect when you can buy a 100 foot hose under $10? 4
