Customer Reviews

I use it for crafting projects!Perfect! I purchased this to use on cardstock card and scrapbooking projects and it works like a charm! No paper ripping and it keeps the ink away from the areas that are taped off with no seeping. 5Great for WatercolorI use this for taping my watercolor paper down and love it. I allow the paint to dry before removing and have never found it to remove paper fragments. I haven't left it on the paper for extended period of time but have found it to work perfectly having left it on my watercolor paper for up to 2 weeks. It works so well that I ordered more to ensure that I don't run out of it. 5Good quality drafting tapeI was looking for a sturdy tape to hold paper down on my tilted drafting board and this tape works marvelously. I have not had any issues with paper tearing (just be gentle, like always!). I bought this to replace a roll that had gotten beat up from being thrown in my bag and knocked around too many times. Whoops. Tape is thin enough to see the corners of the paper underneath when I lay it down. For me, this is a plus. 5Great tape for paper and cardstock, just not for watercolor paper! UPDATE: Works great on Hot-PressedIt's my fault for not researching this tape more. I would highly recommend you look elsewhere if you plan to use this for watercolor paper. No matter the paper I use (cheap, professional) this tears my paper when it comes time to remove it.I was able to salvage my work by trimming off the ruined edges with a craft knife, but you may not want to do this with your work.Search for artist tape instead if that's the intended use!UPDATE: I tried this on Arches Hot-Pressed Watercolor paper and it worked like a charm. Did not tear my paper up or remove an fibers/pulp from the paper. So perhaps it just depends on the quality and tooth of the paper. 5Works well for watercolors. I knocked it down a ...Works well for watercolors. I knocked it down a little because it's a little thin and doesn't feel as securely attached to the drawing board. I'm new to watercolors and I thought I could use it to block bigger pieces, non-line work shapes, but it's not as effective. So I'll use this for straight edges and get some frisket for free forms.... 4Love This TapeAs much as a person can love tape, this is great stuff. I am an architect and have been drafting by hand for over 45 years so I have used a lot of drafting tape. I think this is the best I have used. This sticks well and still lifts up without damaging regular paper or tracing paper or leaving residue. It still tends to roll up under a parallel bar but it seems to hold a little better than other brands. It has other uses as well. I was decorating for a party at my house and I used this tape to hold up swags of material. To my surprise, it held firm without damaging the walls. I also suspended it between two wall to simulate the slope of the ceiling for some rooms I was designing in an attic space. From my tape line slope, I dropped more lines of tape to simulate where a planned wall would meet the ceiling. Then, I thought about it for some months. The tape held the whole time and released without damage when I finally took it down. I definitely recommend it.5/2019 Update: I was using this tape from a subsequent order the other day and it wasn't sticking worth a darn. I saw it looked wavy on the roll as if it had been sitting in water. I am thinking it has not been exposed to excess humidity or water and may have been delivered that way, can't be sure. Anyway, do be sure to inspect your tape upon delivery to see that it it is evenly rolled onto its roll and return/exchange it if it isn't. 5Tape it up.It's masking tape, I guess. It works great for holding my Vellum Paper to paper maps and other prints for tracing purposes. Some types of paper it will peal a microscopic layer off but most of what I have used it on has not hurt the paper and I was able to pull the tape off when done with no adverse effects. Just pull off slow, carefully, and don't let it stay taped for any long period. Sometimes if I'm taping to a delicate spot, I will rub my finger across the sticky side of the tape a couple times to decrease it's stickiness. Works great. 5used for watercoloursI use thi to stretch my watercolour paper. It works well and usually comes off th paper clean. I'm not using it as intended, by it works well for my purposes. 5Not great for art: Tears surface of 140# paperI decided to try this for masking the border around watercolor paper because of the description which reads in part:- "Specially designed for stationary trades" (I assumed that stationary was misspelled and should've been stationery- which is paper, right?)- "Pro Artist tape-premium flatback paper tape" (Ok. not just for drafting/technical drawings but also for artists' work.)- "clean removal, repositionable"Plus, I liked the 1/2 inch width for my smaller projects. It's mostly good but it has torn the paper more than once. I've even tried sticking it first to another surface before applying to the watercolor paper and it still occasionally removes (lifts, tears) the paper. On the good side: There is no bleed through or under the tape - it is resistant to my tube watercolors. When it lifts cleanly it produces a straight clean edge! It tears easily just as it claims. It is easy to position - it doesn't stretch out of shape as it was placed on the marks making it easy to get a straight line.Could it be my paper? I guess it could. I used it on Strathmore 140# watercolor paper and on Strathmore Watercolor Cards. If you think that's the problem let me know. So, I need to buy something better, and save this for something else. 3False economy due to poor adhesionI have been using this tape 5-6 times a week for the last 8 weeks in my college interior design program. I chose it as a less expensive alternative to the Pro Art Drafting Dots since I blew through those awfully fast the previous term and they're a bit spendy. However, I believe it was a false economy because this tape does not tolerate the friction of my T-square and triangles repeatedly moving over it and it begins to peel up quite quickly, even if I rub down the edges very hard with the back of a thumbnail when applying. My worktable at home has a melamine surface, while the one at school is tempered glass, and I clean both with vinegar-water (leaves no residue) and paper towels regularly. I end up having to take it off and re-tape my drawing with new tape at least once and often twice during my three-hour drafting classes. It does also have a nasty habit of pulling off the surface of the paper leaving fuzzy corners (for which I often get a point marked off) even if I peel it very carefully - for my homework drawings, I've taken to using a larger piece of paper than the size assigned and trimming it down to eliminate those fuzzy corners. Even though I have about 3/4 of the roll left, I'm giving up and going back to the drafting dots which did not have these problems, and this roll of tape will go in the "loaner stash" in the drafting classroom. 2
