Customer Reviews

Exceptionally engineered and built dispenser!Bought the White Triple dispenser and received within 2 days from ToiletTree.Packaging: Packaging was great! Each dispenser was individually wrapped as well as the mount and mounting hardware. No scratches or damage noted.First Impressions: Upon opening, I immediately noticed the quality of the dispenser. Each dispenser has a good weight to it and seems well built. The design is modern and the aluminum plate on front looks very classy. The handles which I believe to be metal look very nice as well. Overall, this product is very aesthetically pleasing.Installation: Installation was pretty straightforward and instructions to do so were relatively clear. The hardest part for me was applying the silicone glue which took considerable force squeezing the 2 small tubes. After mounting the plate to the wall, I waited 24hrs per instructions which seemed endless since I was so anxious to use it. After 24hrs, I slid on each dispenser which was quick and easy.Use: After installation, I removed the tops of the reservoirs and poured in Shampoo, Body wash, and Conditioner. I pulled the handle on each for a few times and sure enough, the dispensers went to work. I was instantly impressed on the solid handle and quality feel of the dispensers. The dispensers work flawlessly and the fluids are dispensed in a steady and consistent manner. It had no problem dispensing the thick conditioner I used. Also, there is little to no flex or play in the mechanism which is great. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the quality and workmanship of the dispenser. It is exceptionally designed!Last thoughts: Since I purchased this, I plan to buy another and tell my friends and family about it. Even though I don't think I'll have technical issues down the road, I am comforted by the fact that it is covered by a 5- year warranty. This is my first ToiletTree purchase but based on this product, I'm willing to give their other products a try.I hope this review was helpful to you. Thanks, Paul. 5Will Fall Off after a few monthsGreat at first, but after time will fall off. I had it mounted for about 4 months then it finally fell off the wall. I've posted photos to show that it wasn't my mounting, in fact the part I cleaned and mounted stayed on the wall. It was the adhesive on the product that was initially installed by the manufacturer that fell off. Of course it came crashing down at 3am in the morning and woke the entire family up.I wouldn't buy again due to quality of adhesive. Now I have to find time to scrap the adhesive off the wall of the tile and find a better brand. 1Hard to install as designed.I read the instructions very carefully before installing. I fabricated a piece of Plexiglas (see the third picture) with a lip at the bottom to fit around the edges of my fiberglass shower because I wanted to be able to move it if I didn't like where I first installed it. I stuck the mounting plate to the Plexiglas and weighted it down for 24 hours before hanging it on the wall away from the shower head. I then filled the 3 dispensers and used it. It was very easy to use and I was very pleased. 28 hours after I installed it I heard a loud crash and found the dispenser on the floor of my shower and all the product sliding down the drain (see first picture). Nothing was broken, one corner was dented, but, as you can see in the second picture, the double stick tape on the back of the mounting plate was bubbled all over and no longer sticky. I easily removed it from the mounting plate and I think that the reason it didn't stick is that the back of the plate has a grid of 1/16" wide strips that are the only areas where the double stick foam can stick. You can see this grid behind the double stick tape in the picture. This equals only about 1% of the entire surface area of the mounting plate, not enough to hold anything up for long, much less 3 heavy dispensers filled with 22 ounces of liquid each. I took the back of the mounting plate off by removing the 6 small screws in the corners and the center and drilled holes in the part of the mounting plate that goes against the wall and in my Plexiglas mount. I used machine screws with thin heads pushed through from the inside of the mounting plate back with the front of the plate reattached to hold them in place and then lined up the screws with the holes in my Plexiglas and fastened with nuts - I forgot to take pictures, sorry. I contacted the seller and was given a refund and told to keep the dispenser. I am very happy with it now as I know it will never come down; the last three pictures are the final result. There is a bit of a gap between the Plexiglas and the shower wall because of the nuts and I used heavy duty Command Strips to keep it from moving around. It is very easy to get the different products out while showering. I think a design change from the grid to a completely flat back on the mounting plate would probably solve the problem of it falling as it would give 100% surface area adhering to the double stick tape. I am not sure how the double stick tape provided will perform in a redesigned mounting plate since it did bubble when exposed to the steam of the shower. Perhaps it will be better if there is total contact between the tape and the wall it is adhered to. Bottom line, I love the dispenser, I was just very unhappy with the problems of mounting it. 4A Junk Purchase, And Possibly DangerousThis unit fell off 6 days after the unit was mounted after carefully following the directions. The adhesive failed on the unit side, not the wall side, so it is definitely the fault of the manufacturer and not related at all to the mounting procedure. If someone were taking a shower or bath at the time it fell off, an injury could have resulted. See the photos.Update #1: I emailed the company and promptly received a response. They totally took care of my problem and sent me more than I needed, including a tube of adhesive. And the new mounting base has a new and presumably much better adhesive. Bless their heart though because 2/3 of the tube of silicone was already hardened. Fortunately the good 1/3 was at the opening so I was still able to use it. I am a very happy customer now.Update #2: Oh well, even with an excellent response from customer service, this product again failed miserably. The simple issue is that this design, with respect to mounting to a smooth surface with only adhesives, cannot adequately accomodate the filled weight of the product. After using the new mounting plate with upgraded adhesive tape, plus the silicone adhesive provided, it failed and fell off again. Please see a very helpful review by Phil, and also see the new photos. 1After a year, tape stretched and tore... fell off wall.OCT 2018 UPDATE: This piece has been stuck place since purchased. Today it came crashing down, the tape having stretched and torn. The base got a gouge in the facing. All the product got wasted... I'm not sure I wan't to replace with another piece that will crash down in a year....ORIGINAL REVIEW:After reading tons of reviews for tons of dispensers we decided to give this one a shot. We hung it and left it empty/dry for several days. I was worried about the warnings of having to water down products but we haven't had any issues. The trick is to get ALL the air out of the pump dispenser....Before you fill canisters, pour in just a half inch or so (I use Treseme). Hold your finger over the spout to block it, and pump several times. You'll see the bubbles come up as the dispenser fills. Once dispenser fills you can fill cannister to the top. ** If you fill canisters first, the air can't escape, and your pumps will dispense very small amounts of product. Once primed you'll get plenty of shampoo/ cond/ soap. Should only take 2 to 3 pumps for long hair. Just like pumps on bottles. This is in a 9 year old's bathroom, and we've had a total of zero issues with this product. I wish there were labels since everything we use is a variation of white lol. Otherwise it's perfect. 1Initially Had Problems But Now Great!I initially thought this product was amazing. It performed well in dispensing liquid shampoo products, looked great, and was a good price. HOWEVER, after one week of usage, I can say that there is definitely a problem with the mounting system. I followed the instructions included EXACTLY. Wiped the bathtub area clean of soap scum, then used rubbing alcohol to clean the surface further. I then put the included silicone adhesive on the mounting part, removed the backing to the double sided tape, and placed it on the bathtub wall. I waited more than the 24 hour recommended time to allow the silicone to seal. I then mounted the product on and it looked great...for a week at least. Then I started seeing the mounting bracket start sagging at the top and I knew something was up. I left it there, hoping that it wouldn't sag further, but it got to the point where it looked dangerously ready to fall down and cause me to lose a lot of money's worth of bath products. I took it off the mount and now I have a gooey silicone mess on my tub wall, which I have to scrape off. Please see the photos I included. This was a great product until this happened. Either they need to include better silicone or redesign the mounting surface so that it actually sticks to the silicone (the silicone had no problems sticking to the wall, it was the fact that it didn't stick to the mounting bracket that was the problem).UPDATE 6/12/14: I was responded to about this issue by the president of the company himself within a day and will be provided with a replacement mount and silicone. Hopefully, this time it will stick and I will definitely change my rating because I really do love this product, just the mounting was the issue. Thanks.UPDATE 6/20/14: I was sent a replacement with a lot more silicone. I also went out to Lowe's and bought my own stick of Liquid Nails Silicone Adhesive. I used a TON of it on the mount as well as put a line around the outside edges in order to prevent water from seeping through. It's been almost a week and I can say it's held up well. My advice: If your unit has problems sticking to the wall like mine (my tub is fiberglass), you definitely need more silicone than the 2 tubes provided in the box. Either you can buy more from your local hardware store or try asking ToiletTree for extra. Their customer service has been great. I really enjoy the dispenser and hopefully, it'll last for many years to come! 5Pure GarbageI've owned and installed other shower dispensers in the past, but this has got to be the worst. I followed the mounting instructions to a tee and filled up both dispensers. First off, the dispensers work very poorly. You need about 15 pumps to get enough body wash gel to shower with. About two hours after first using the dispensers, the entire thing fell off the wall, shooting shampoo and body wash all over the tile and glass door. I tried to return the unit, but was referred to Amazon's "Technical Expert." He tried to guide me through cleaning the unit and re-mounting it. Really? I'm an advanced DIY'er who's fully capable of mounting a shower dispenser. As if the lousy product wasn't bad enough, I get further insulted by Amazon's poor treatment of me as a "valued" Prime Member. I'm not impressed with either and threw the product in the trash. Lesson learned. 1Works GreatThe unit works great as advertised. Installation was easy with proper surface preparation. Quality of materials, fit and finish are fine for the price point. Note that the included silicon adhesive will be packaged inside one of the fluid containers, so don't think it's missing. Note that the tops come off the fluid containers. In other words, do NOT try to unscrew the fluid containers from the pump bases. As for installation steps:1. Pick a mounting location. As far as where to install the unit in your shower, I suggest using a location that doesn't interfere in any way with your entrance or exit from the shower or your path of motion while using the shower. I'm thinking a location under the shower head is the least intrusive spot. If I had to install the unit again, I'd go with the under the shower head location. When installed, the unit extends about 4 inches (100 mm) out from the wall.2. Determine a mounting height. Choose a mounting height such that the pull handles are at a comfortable height, which is roughly mid-stomach height to mid-chest height. Perform a dry run by placing the mounting bracket (without adhesive) with one fluid reservoir/pump unit attached on a wall and note/mark your desired height.3. Surface preparation: Clean the chosen wall mounting location well and then wipe it down with rubbing alcohol.4. Adhesive application to the mounting bracket. Apply the silicon adhesive along the perimeter of the mounting bracket as noted in the included instructions and then remove the backing liners from the included adhesive tape5. Mount the mounting bracket to the wall. Grab a level and place it above the mounting bracket as you press it against the wall. Keep the mounting bracket level (not angled) as you apply pressure to the wall. Yes, eyes alone work fine for determining level here as it isn't too critical to function. Work your way around the perimeter of the bracket while applying an even pressure for about one minute.6. Wait for the cure. Allow the silicon adhesive 24 hours to cure/dry BEFORE placing any weight (i.e. empty or fluid filled reservoirs) on the mounting bracket. Yes, you must allow enough time for the silicon to properly cure before it can handle the weight of the empty pump/reservoir units or any fluid. I did use the shower during the curing time as my mounting location is out of the path of the water exiting the shower head. If you mount the unit under the shower head, I'd plan on not using the shower for 24 hours to allow for proper curing without water falling directly on the silicon. My product improvement suggestion is for the manufacturer to ensure that the 4 Philips screws holding the 4 little white, plastic engagement bumpers on the back of the fluid reservoir/pump units are properly tightened. I noticed that only 2 out of the 3 reservoir/pump units exhibited a slight, upward rotating motion when dispensing fluid, whereas one unit did not move at all when dispensing fluid. Upon on further examination of the solid, non-moving unit, I noticed the 4 screw mounted white, plastic engagement bumpers were tight and not able to move. Sure enough, these screws were loose on the two units that were slightly moving/rotating when fluid was being dispensed. Yes, simply tightening the 4 screws such that the white plastic engagement bumpers no longer move eliminates the slight motion issue. 4So far so good...It's only been a week since my dispenser has gone up and so far no issues. After reading the reviews of other brands, I decided to go with this one based off of the claims of good customer support. My dispenser hangs in my kids bath. My kids are 6 and 10 and have had no issues at all with using it. The soap and shampoo dispense easily. The tub area is a smooth fiberglass surface. I followed the directions to wash the surface thoroughly then wiped it down with alcohol and allowed it dry. The dispenser came with 2 small tube of adhesive. I used every bit of the silicone adhesive and ran short on one area so I used Liquid Nails Silicone Adhesive to finish the job. The hanging plate that attaches to the wall makes this process foolproof as it tells you exactly where to put the silicone on the plate. Directions tell you to wait 24 hrs before attaching the bottles. I waited 36 to be sure. The bottles attach and detach easily however you do not need to detach the entire bottle to fill it. The top cap comes off allowing it to be top filled. Fyi - Directions say not to use gritty products as it may clog the dispenser. The overall look is great in my opinion. I love that it is clutter free. I'm also quite sure that we will use way less product than before. Due to my son's allergies, I used my label maker to label the jars. It does not come with any labeling stickers. So far no complaints. I will post an update if we have future issues.UPDATE - It's been over a year and this dispenser is working just as great as it did on day 1. Highly recommend! 5How did I live without this product until now? That's right, I'm in love....with my ToiletTree dispenser. Seriously though, this is one extremely useful, excellently engineered, and beautifully designed products for this use. I thought long and hard about this though, because I thought the price was a bit high. It was still cheaper than the SimpleHuman design though. I read lots of reviews, checked out the company BBB rating, went thru their warranty and felt assured that this was a solid product, and that if I had any issues, I felt they would be dealt with them professionally. So I took the plunge, and like most others, the hardest part of the install was the 24 hr. wait after installation, before you could use it.The installation took me about 50 minutes. Mostly because when I took the unit out of the box, I didn't see any silicone, so I went to the hardware store to buy some. I came home, pulled out a level, a pen, and a tape measure, and when I completely unboxed the product, I found 2 small tubes of silicone inside one of the dispensers. So, remember this: THE SILICONE IS PROVIDED. DON'T WASTE TIME BUYING MORE FOR THIS PROJECT. IT'S IN THE DISPENSER. OK, I feel better now. :-) 10 minutes after starting the real install, the unit was up. I used one small tube of silicone for the back of the dispenser, along with the already applied removable adhesive strips, and I used the 2nd supplied tube to add a bead of silicone around the entire unit. Since the unit is on the back wall of the shower, under the shower head, I wanted to be doubly sure it stayed up. The following day, I eagerly filled the dispensers with the remnants of products that sat on every corner of my tub. What a difference removing that clutter really made! My main reason for buying this is that I have RA, and sometimes, I can't hold a new bottle of shampoo upside down to put some soap in my hand. Bottles with pumps work well to combat this, but you lose so much product by the time you get to the bottom. This product is incredibly helpful to me. I have no problem at all in dispensing the product. You place your fingertips on the metal bar that's underneath the container you want to use, and use a, "come hither" motion with your hand. I have much greater control of the quantity of product now and I think I'm using less than before, so, bonus! I love that the top lid is easily removable so that you can refill with product.Once more, I had 2 preconceived ideas about this product and am a little disappointed. I thought the body of the dispensers was metal. I thought I read a review somewhere that mentioned that. But alas, it's just shiny plastic with a metallic coating. It looks beautiful, but feels just a little cheap. But then again, once it's on the wall, no one is picking it up and feeling the heft, or lack therof. It really doesn't bother me now, it was just an initial reaction. I should've paid more attention to the details myself. Also, it's a bit larger than I had envisioned. So, pay attention to the measurements in the details of this. I love that they hold so much and if I had thought it through, I would've realized it has to be a good size.Overall, I love this item and hope to have one in any bathrooms in my next home. Buy it, you won't regret it. 5
