Customer Reviews

Seem fine. Okay. The white plastic shell is a bit thin, but this works as advertised. Be careful when you choose, since your cabinet doors and interior mounting surface must be totally flush, or they won't work. They aren't powerful enough magnets to hold a cabinet door closed that doesn't want to stay closed to begin with.3Cheap but worked well. Our home has plantation shutters and uses this size magnetic catch to secure the swing open needed to clean the windows. The catches eventually fall apart from baking in the Texas sun. These catches are not the highest quality compared to bigger brand name catches but work well and extremely inexpensive.4Mount screws are too small and cheaply madeThe magnets themselves are fine and will hold with no problem. Attaching the magnets was a maddening issue. The supplied screws are too small to use a #1 size phillips driver, but smaller size drivers are meant for fine work and you can not get decent torque to drive the screws in. So each screw must be predrilled, then hand driven in. Even then the screws are cheap aluminum and the heads strip out quickly under any pressure from tightening. Alternatively, you can purchase appropriately sized wood screws, which is what I suggest.3Don't waste your money on this useless stuffThese things are useless and a waste of time besides. The screws are too small to hold the metal plate in place...it will come right off on the magnet. It took me an hour to fiddle around with one to get it to "work" and then the plate came right off. Even a simple product like this suffers from lack of design and quality. Don't waste your money, and even worse, your time. I'd give it zero stars if that was an option. They are all going right in the trash.1Be ready for a firm tug!Delivered quickly and be sure you want some super "sticky"(strong!) magnet closures. I only really needed one (half of a) set as the replacement for one side of a 2 door cabinet but the magnet strengths of the old set versus the new set (these) was so different--I'm replacing both sides w/these. I live in an ancient (1907) apartment and the kitchen cabinets (installed circa 1955) will seem modern by comparison when I replace those magnet closures, too! Landlord will be thrilled. Cabinets that stay closed w/just a bump of the bum (or elbow) to get the door swing started. (Not a new dance craze!)5Pretty strong, very reasonably priced magnetic catchesI am using them to mount removable backs from a custom built entertainment system to allow access to component cabling. They have good holding power and are working well in my application. I do recommend pre-drilling holes prior to mounting as the screws are small Phillips heads (probably #4) and the heads will not withstand the torque required to drive them into bare wood without stripping. I deducted one star because I ordered a 12 pack of magnets and plates and only got 11 metal plates.4Fell a little shortOur cupboards are old and the old latches broke. My old latches had elongated slots where the screws went. This allowed you to slide the latch forward, or push it back. This way you could pull it forward if the door wasn't flush against the shelf, thus latching. This only has the hole for the screw so no adjust can be done.So if the door when closed isn't against the latch it won't catch the magnet and you can't push it closer to the door.. I'll save them for another project4WAY WAY too weak to work.WARNING! These magnetic closures are not strong enough for cabinet doors. They probably could not even hold two pieces of paper together. The magnet inside the housing is not strong enough to hold a postcard to a refrigerator. AND they cannot be returned - as per Amazon s return policy. So I had to toss them away and chose a different vendor on a different site. What a waste of time, just to find out I had to start all over again.1Not bad for the priceOverall it's a decent latch for the price. The screws are easy to strip. Be very careful with them. I drilled pilot holes first. My family thought they held the doors too tight, so I put some white medical tape (my doors are white) over the metal plate where the magnets grab. This cut the force it takes to open the door by about half. I'm sure you can substitute whatever tape you have depending on cabinet color and how it holds on metal, wood, whatever. Everyone is now happy.4Quality Magnet kitThis is an inexpensive but still quality product that looks good and functions well.I purchased 1 package of 12 to test first. I installed one and tested it for a few days. I then installed the other 11. Soon after I noticed the metal squares rocked back and forth. There is 1 screw to secure it to the cabinet door and 2 dimples. Even after I tightened the screw the metal plates overtime rocked again. My solution was to remove all the metal plates I already installed and glue them using Goop brand glue and the 1 screw. Since I did this there is no more rocking. The metal plates are secured.Since I have purchased 4 more packes of 12 and installed them top and bottom for each cabinet door. The doors close well and are secure. It takes a little effort to open them but I like that. The magnets are strong.Pros:Easy to installReasonably pricedFast shipping (Prime)Strong magnetsCons:Rocking of the metal plates (resolved with Goop glue)**1 missing metal plate in package, which means I was shorted 1 closure kit**4
