Beautiful, compact, and sturdy
I liked the idea of buying these as they come fully assembled. I figured I would need to tighten them up after being shipped, but they were put together solidly. The seats are covered in plastic for shipping protection and removing this plastic was a bit tricky, but simple enough. I got the antique walnut color and these stools accent the space nicely. They are being used for seating at a small kitchen counter eating area. I don't think i would want to sit on one for hours and hours, but no problem to sit down and visit with the cook or to eat a quick meal.
5Sturdy stools that are great for a kitchen island or peninsula bar at a fair price.
Affordable bar stools and fairly high quality. We were looking for a good value and these stools fit the bill. They are sturdy, look nice, and are a perfect height for a kitchen island or peninsula counter. We just remodeled the kitchen and we were looking for stools that wouldn't stick out much from the bar as it only hangs 8 inches out from the peninsula. These stools have a narrow enough profile that they tuck against the peninsula fairly well and still have a large enough seating surface to comfortable seat an average adult.As for the quality, the paint is not bad. There were a few tiny areas where more care could have been taken such as the underside of the seating surface where there is an unpainted square about 4x4 inches where they must have set it on a stand to paint it at the factory or something. Once I unwrapped them and put them in place I never thought of or saw the unpainted square as the stools are pretty low. I suppose if you're playing on the floor with your kids and look up you could see it.Also. the horizontal foot rests/steps that are made of wooden dowels are attached to the four legs by being fitted into holes in the legs which makes sense; the issue is that they are also held into those holes by nails that aren't all hammered in all the way. I bought one set of stools (two total) and I had to hammer in bout 5-6 nails about 1/16 of an inch more to make sure the semi-sharp little heads weren't sticking out as they would pose a scratching risk to our kids little fingers or perhaps a tearing risk to some delicate pants. I just used a drift (larger nail with flat tip) which I placed against the tiny finishing nail heads and tapped them in. You could also easily cut off the extra with a dremel cut-off wheel. This hammering project only took about 10-15 minutes as I was being slow and careful not to ding the wood so don't let that discourage you. Also, many people might not notice the nails and not care or perhaps I just got an unlucky batch where the guy making it got lazy or distracted. Who knows.Overall, they are great stools, especially for the price. I actually plan on buying another set as I think we have room for them at the bar as well. The finish is decent, they are fairly sturdy, and the price is right. If I had it to do over again I would buy the same ones as the few minutes it took to fix the nails was not an issue for me.
4Great Bargain.
Came assembled. Oddly they wrapped the top in plastic and THEN stretched legs. Use a razor or painters tool to score plastic on all 4 sides around legs so that you don t have plastic pieces stuck. Looks good for the cost. I added felt pads in the legs to avoid scratching wood floors. Not comfortable for sitting long periods.
4Sturdy, low-profile, just right
Love these stools. I love their simple, unobtrusiveness. I m sure there are folks who may find their lack of cushioning or backrest uncomfortable for long periods, but I personally have sat upon them for hours with company and not experienced any discomfort. They are very stable, something I was worried about, with my 4-year-old climbing up and down them to eat at the counter. I still keep a close eye on her when she gets up or down, but fortunately so far I haven t seen any sort of tippiness. They came packaged well, with no damage to speak of. Couldn t be more pleased with them.
5Rough edges, but good
I like them and would buy them again. The tops of them were not finished very well, several shiny spots I had to buff out of both stools. The paint is nice but does show the wood grain, not on account of transparency but because of texture, I might have opted for a wood finish had I realized that, but I'm happy with them. They weren't very expensive, and I do like them so I'd say go for it, they are very sturdy and do not rock. The only bad things are the packaging, mine came ok but had several little chips and paint dings that could probly have been avoided. All in all tho, not worse than a couple weeks of regular use wouldn't produce.
4Me me gave a 4 but only gave 3 for other individuals.
Bar stools arrived on time. I gave them a 3 because they were chipped up around the edge. I had seen another review that recieved theirs with the same chips. As they are a very light wood under painted (not stained) under Walnut color the multiple chips stuck out badly! I personally was not very concerned with this as I was planning on painting and distressing them for a rustic look. So once I sanded the chips smooth and it gave the stools a slightly more rustic look. But for someone who doesn't have that intention, I could seebthem being very disappointed, hence 3 stars. Because a review is supposed to be geared for others to make a informed decision on a purchase. They are very solid stool for the money and made me personally extremely happy with my weekend project.

I'm surprised at how difficult is to just find REGULAR STOOLS online. Every major retailer's site I go to gives me odd results. But these? Stupendous, simple, stereotypical stools. No branding, no nonsense, and solid wood. Got them "open box" for the price just one stool would probably cost me! Arrived in great condition. The only flaw is the sanding not necessarily being very perfect all around, but that's a minor complaint. Glad I got these for practicing guitar. Or anything, really.

5the stools look nice enough. However
2 stools for $40? Sold! Several days later, upon opening the package, the stools look nice enough. However, once I took them out, I realized that not one, but both of the stools had uneven legs causing it rock one way or the other depending on how you shifted your weight. If you're looking for something cheap, and you don't mind an uneven stool, look no further! But buyer beware, you get what you pay for so don't expect a quality piece of furniture.
2Look great, feel solid
I was surprised at how solid these things are. With such a low price and a couple not-so-hot reviews I was concerned, but they came out of the box without a scratch and there's no wiggle at all. I use them in a recording studio so they get a lot of butt-in-seat action and feel as solid as they could be. I'm happy.
